INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and editorial policy

Digital preservation policies:

The National Experimental Polytechnic University Antonio José de Sucre, Puerto Ordaz, in alliance with AutanaBooks Ecuador, maintains digital preservation policies, ensuring the integrity of electronic digital documents, for prolonged periods of the Universidad Ciencia y Tecnología (UCT) journal, thus ensuring the unalterability of its characteristics such as authenticity, unalterability, originality, reliability, and accessibility.

The actions in line with these objectives are:

  • Internal conservation: the National Experimental Polytechnic University Antonio José de Sucre, Puerto Ordaz, in alliance with AutanaBooks Ecuador, archives all the files that make up the UCT journal on external hard drives bimonthly, updating the structure in this same period.
  • Long-term conservation: The UCT journal is backed by several indexing databases, including SciELO. With this support, UCT has access to the preservation of its articles in CLOKSS. For more information, visit Keepers Registry.
  • Preservation under Sherpa-Romeo: The Universidad Ciencia y Tecnología (UCT) journal is backed by the Sherpa-Romeo database.
  • PN PKP preservation: this is an additional capability for the long-term preservation of the journal's data.
  • LOKSS preservation: UCT participates in the PKP-PNL initiative that allows the preservation of its articles using the LOCKSS tool. For more information, visit Keepers Registry. Preservation and backups: relevant differences.

It is essential to distinguish between backups, which are kept as a backup to preserve them in extreme situations, catastrophes, or information losses, and the public information on the server and the digital resources of an edition stored in a digital library.

On the other hand, digital preservation does not back up the information but protects high-quality digital material that will be useful in the future.
