The Canoabo watershed produces water for a reservoir as well as agricultural products for its population. Due to deforestation and no conservationist land uses, erosion is affecting its sustainability. The study of the present erosion included a field evaluation of 50 sites which were extrapolated using a vegetation index. To establish the present and potential risks of erosion including ( delta), the USLE equation was used, including local and national adaptations. Results of the area studied showed that present erosion is 74% light, 13% moderate and 11% severe. Degradation is mostly due to inappropriate grazing in side slopes, while areas covered by forest are the less affected. Areas with high present risks of erosion coincide with field erosion, but not in areas with low risks, as the apparent dense cover by ferns seen in the satellite image mask the reality. By eliminating the vegetation the potential risk increases erosion everywhere, then slopes become the controlling factor. The delta, an indicator of impact, shows that the areas under forest suffer the most, indicating its high fragility Characterization of the river basin canoabo in the carabobo state, venezuela.
The Canoabo watershed fulfills a double purpose. It produces water for several communities down the valley, but also supports mostly agricultural activities of 6.500 people. Previous studies indicated by the authors on its climate, erosion and soils allow now to develop an agro ecological zoning, basis of a better land ordering. With this purpose it was carried out an analysis of its environmental fragility, the separation of critical areas for water and sediment production, and finally the classification into areas to be protected, to be reclaimed and those to be used in a more intensive agriculture. Results showed that nearly 50% of the watershed should be protected with rather restrictive legislation to guarantee water and other environmental services. Around 15% require reclamation mostly from severe and moderate erosion before thinking in other uses. Another 20% should have protective land uses, to be developed, like forestry, agroforestry and silvopastoril. Finally only 5%, in the valley, is recommended for more intensive agricultural uses Floración influence pruning and potassium nitrate and potassium tiosulphate application over the handle in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
This work is to characterize the microbiological process of composting from sugar waste and to evaluate their effect on the maturation of the compost. During the composting process, it was taken composed samples and conducted microbiological analysis: quantification of aerobic mesophilic and thermophilic heterotrophic bacteria and celulotiticas bacteria and fungi as generic characterization of the fungal microbiota. Heterotrophic bacteria mesophiles and thermophilic aerobic were quantified and fungi by the method of plaque recount and the bacteria celuloticas by the most probable number method. We evaluated the quality of the compost by germination tests. The pH close toneutrality allowed that mesophilic bacteria lead the initialphase, in the thermophilic phase the thermophilic bacteria are more than mesophilic bacteria and in the stabilization phase mesophilic bacteria again lead the composting process. Cellulolitic bacteria drecrease the it activity as it moves down the compost, unlike fungi increase their activity at the end of the process. Among the fungi observed in the experiment the Aspergillus flavus dominanted in the initial phase, A. fumigatus in the thermophilic phase and the occasionally stabilization it was observed the presence of A. terrus, A. flavus, A. niger and other Aspergillus species. The germination percentage of vegetables in the compost material is below 80% indicating that the material is limited for use directly as a substrate for germination Prediction of black sigatoka on 'Harton Plantain' under conditions of soil fertilization in the municipality of Veroes of Yaracuy state, Venezuela http://ve.scielo.org/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0002-192X2009000300008&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en El estado nutricional de la planta y el conocimiento de la epidemiología de la sigatoka negra, deben ser considerados en el manejo de la enfermedad en 'Plátano Hartón'.
