Apis mellífera mellífera venom is a complex mixture of high and low molecular weight molecules, enzymes and peptides. Phospholipase A2, mellitin and apamin are the compounds causing the fatal accidents in the humans. They also cause local damage in the sting location and other serious effects, such as systemic reactions. The bee venom toxicity on the humans is not known with accuracy, the venom lethal dose 50 in mice, is from 2.5 to 2.8 mg/kg via endovenous and the lethal dose is 6 mg/kg via endovenous. When a bee stings injects from 50 to 100 µg of venom. The toxic effects of the sting are immediately originated; the beginning of the anaphylaxis is typical and quick, produced minutes after the sting. The serum disease can occur 10 to 14 days after the accident. A hundred stings can be necessary to kill a human, although there are other cases where one sting can cause the death and others that have stung them 400 or more and they have survived.
The immune changes associated to the experimental infection of mice with Leishmania major and the leading role played by the Langerhans cells in the signalling of the infection from the skin up to the lymphatic ganglions are well known; however, the physiological mechanisms that restrict parasite proliferation in these cells have not been yet identified. In macrophages, control of infection is associated with nitric oxide production. The availability of cellular iron modulates this effector’s system, including the activity of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase. Herein, and in an attempt to analyze if the iron metabolism- nitric oxide synthase expression loop described in other immune cells is present in dendritic cells, we have analyzed the effect of iron chelators as deferroxamine and pyridoxal-isoniconoyl hidrazone on different functions of dendritic cells isolated from BALB/c mice bone marrow. The results suggest that the control of Leishmania infection in dendritic cells is independent of the iron metabolism- nitric oxide synthase expression loop. In the CN group, 79% improved their MMST score, 78% reported improvement and in 84% improvement was observed by the physician. Five patients presented adverse effects (fainting, skin rash, headache and heartburn) of which two, had to stop treatment. In the PRN group, 94% patients improved their MMST score: 94% reported improvement and in 91% improvement was observed by the physician. Three patients (9.1%) suffered adverse effects (heartburn, hypotension and dizziness), and one of them had to stop treatment. Conclusions: 120 mg. PRN administered once a day as well as 30 mg CN administered four times a day improve cognitive deterioration in elderly people, does not produce serious adverse effects and are well tolerated.
The relationship between adequate nourishing and general health condition has been widely reported and commonplace in medical criteria. For this reason the purpose of this work is to assess the nurture distribution among the infant population of a Warao indigenous people that belong to the Yakariyene community, in order to establish their general healthiness condition. The population sample consisted of 107 individuals selected at a random. The study is based on standard anthropometric (OMS) measurements such as: weight, height, left arm circumference, corporal mass index and age. This allows an assessment of the general health condition through the link with the general nourishment distribution and the individuals size and weight condition. The results of the study suggest that half of the infant population less than 15 years of age show sign of some form of malnutrition. This sub group had either indications of overweight or underweight, being the later the most frequent situation encountered. This results indicates that a significant number of infants in this indigenous community is at risk of suffering a disease associated with this nourishment condition with the associated pathological infections that complicate such situations.
Lead is a ubiquitous element in the environment. Oxidative stress is considered a mechanism which causes toxicity. The objective of this work is to determine the effect of N-Acetylcyteine and Methionine on lead poisoning in blood levels for lead, hematocrit, ALA-D and levels of malondialdehide (MDA) in the liver and kidneys. Sixty Wistar rats with an average weight of 185 g. were used. They were divided into five groups. In Group 1, the control, basal levels were determined, in Group 2, intoxication and in the rest of the groups, once intoxicated, they received treatment in the following manner: Group 3, N-Acetylcyteine (NAC). Group 4 Methionine (MET) and Group 5 NAC + MET. Results showed that NAC lowers lead levels in the blood in 23% (p<0.05) increases hematocrit and ALA-D activity. The combination of NAC + MET lowers the levels of lead in the blood in 41% (p<0.001) with a hematocrit increase (p<0.05) and an increase in the ALA-D activity of 16% (p<0.001). With respect to the MDA in the liver and kidneys, NAC lowers the levels of MDA in the liver in 29% (p<0.05). The NAC +MET treatment induces a statistically significant MDA increase in the liver and a decrease in the kidney. In this research, it can be concluded that NAC shows a weak Chelate effect on the plasmatic levels of lead and reverts alteration at the level of the blood parameters studied in addition to reverting lipidic peroxidation at the hepatic level. The combination of NAC + MET has dual behavior, at the hepatic level it is pro-oxidant and at the renal level antioxidant.
The present study was made with the purpose of determining if the Dipyrone alters the platelet aggregation. For it, 30 healthy volunteers selected themselves, which were divided in two groups and at random assigned to receive 1 gof 100 Dipyrone or mg of Acetylsalicylic Acid. The platelet aggregation through the turbidimétrico method was determined; using adenosin difosfato, collagen and adrenalin. In the Dipyrone group, a statistically significant reduction of the platelet aggregation was observed the 72 hours, as opposed to the 3 stimuli; that it reverted to the 24 hours. In the group Acetylsalicylic Acid, the platelet aggregation to the 24 hours diminished significantly. When comparing both groups were no significant differences in the basalsample but if to the 24 hours. We can conclude that the Dipyrone, like the rest of antiinflammatory the nonesteroideos ones, it inhibits the plaquetaria aggregation of reversible form, unlike the Acetylsalicylic Acid.
