Throughout these lines an exciting topic as the relationships between military and civil links has been approached. However, and in spite of how actual this matter can be, we have wanted to confront by means of the revision and analysis of some events belonging to the Venezuelan colonial period and everything based it in the theoretical appreciations by Huntington and Nordlinger. To fulfill this purpose we have recalled to the military graduation that the governors of the County of Cumaná possessed. So, every case is presented as a personal one in connection with each governor himself. Therefore, we could determine that in those mentioned relationships between military and civil people coexisted situations of tension and agreement at the same time.
An issue regrettably forgotten in the syllabus of our universities is that of civil-military relations; the predominance, in a democracy, of civilian authorities over the military; the generally referred as civilian control. This becomes not only interesting and even paradoxically, when it can be assured the importance of such theme in Venezuelan historical evolution. It is intended to modestly contribute to overcome the named condition with this essay.
After the events of Bayonne, in the Iberian Peninsula, the provinces overseas were involved in deciding their fate under the influence of transatlantic conflict, featuring among the various colonial powers. What happened in the former Captaincy General of Venezuela shows how in their various provinces there was a clear vision of sovereignty on the one hand, and secondly, the need to avoid falling into the jaws of a new colonialism represented Bonapartes in France. The events described in this paper demonstrate how the operation has been regional, since a strong policy perspective, the independence from the Spanish crown.
This work aims to present the situation in which the Church found itself in the lands of the old missions of Guayana under the catalan capuchinos when they were taken by the republican army. The investigation concentrates on the problems of the villa of Upata that functioned as the head of the least populated regions of Pastora and Caroní. Upata was the main town to the east of Angostura and the documentation produced by its political judges and town council allowed the dissemination of the fluctuations in the Church’s presence in Caroní during the first decade of the republican period.
The study of people of mixed race and of the mixture of races in the region known today as Latin America, or America Latina as it became predominantly called in the last third of the nineteenth century, causes one to focus on the contents of both terms. This study also maintains a close tie with the uses to which these terms have been applied, and in the different narratives that have zealously sought out attributes to characterize Latin America in cultural terms. From there on, arises the need to examine the historical connotation attributed to the terms mestizo, mestizaje and mestizar as a constituent of the proposals from the western norm and the plotted narratives from without. The present work refers to the historical contents of the aforementioned terms and their relationship with modern citizenship.
The student movement throughout its History has set to standard in the process of political fight by the defense of the principles of freedom and respects the rights of the individual. Even though sometimes it seemed that it lost his vanguardista vision of the postrare reality and in the rejoicing of the golden years of the antigomecista fight, antiperezjimernista and antisystem. The beginnings of century XX are going to serve as platform to define the elements of social and economic transformation that guided of significant way the coming decades in the political order. It is in this order where the students in diverse generations and in a single one exclusively did not set the standard for the formation of a true constellation of leaders in varied fields of the criminal action and deprived. Of there the importance of trying to begin to give importance to the group of students who served as expressive example in the fight against a settled down order that fought with the renovadores ideals of a youth by rebellious and contestataria nature. Towards this way this investigation is oriented on the movement of students who faced the dictatorial project of General Juan Vicente Gomez in his first years. Libertarian socialism: a proposal for s.
