The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is one of the most common diseases of sexual transmission, according to the cancer risk is classified high and low risk, with the first possibly carcinogenic to humans. Most patients exposed express a single genotype but found cases where there are two or more subtypes, which could lead to an increased risk of developing cervical cancer. The review of cases with positive cytologic diagnosis and pathology of HPV infection, with positivity to PCR (polymerase chain reaction) was proposed. The 950 patients who underwent PCR cervix or swabbing the cervix are evaluated. We conclude that the entire sample studied 99% were positive for HPV (p 0.01), 50% had genotype PCR considered high oncogenic risk, 15% of them expressed multiple infection by two or more strains (31 and 6 the most common), and only one of the patients had positive 31, 45 and 6, epithelial changes compatible to LIE (intraepithelial lesion) high degree. For HPV typing by PCR in combination with pathologic examination, additional tests are important in diagnosing the disease as possible to determine the severity of it to clarify its oncogenic risk depending on the genotype HPV detected in relation to the type of histological lesions observed.
Care or cares are at the heart of the nursing function. However, due to their ordinariness, they are often not given the importance posed by some professional cares consistent with the historical and cultural moment we live in. The aim of this article is to argue the importance of humanistic professional care for the 21st century in the different scopes of care, both chronic or critical, in the different areas: community or institutional; in the different nursing functions or activity fields: training, support, management, investigation and policy; and using the different knowledge: personal, aesthetical, ethical, empirical and sociopolitical or emancipatory mode. To this end, with a scientific but at the same time clear and comprehensible language, relevant concepts of care in the 20th-21st centuries are developed. As a theoretical framework, a broad perspective of the origins of care throughout the history of mankind is described; the nursing paradigms since the 19th century; Morin’s knowledge for an education in the 21st century, to give concrete shape in the nursing knowledge according to Pepin. From this general and global perspective, we are in the paradigm of transformation, to make clear concepts and particularities of Watson, Mishel and Boykin/Schonhofer models, with the aim of giving value to their tenets, which gather the history of mankind and the assumed knowledge, which allow us to answer the questions and issues in the 21st century, and must be translated to the current professional care, in academic curricula and ongoing training, in investigation and management.
Dravet syndrome (DS) is a severe epileptic encephalopathy that begins in the first year of life with crises usually triggered by fever which is followed by drug-resistant epilepsy. Also By Charlotte Dravet and recognize as an epilepsy syndrome by the International League against Epilepsy in 1985. For female preschool age 4, who starts tonic-clonic seizures from 6 months of age, presented with multiple convulsive seizures, cognitive and language delay, right hemiparesis EEG changes and drug resistance. Genetic study was performed with Novo alterations in gene SCN1A.
The pediatric dentist in clinical practice needs to prescribe medications to their patients, this requirement should make it rationally, based on a diagnosis according to its clinical judgement and examinations for a comprehensive treatment plan. It is therefore important to know the peculiarities of the child in relation to drugs, which highlights the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, development and maturation, special care for the elimination of drugs. The prescription must be done according to criteria of bioethics, avoiding prescribing errors, considering the conditions of the patient and the importance of pharmacovigilance and drug interactions, struggling with the phenomena of self-medication and drug shortages. The most prescribed drugs in pediatric dentistry are NSAIDs and antimicrobials, for which the professional must know everything related to the management and assessment of pain and dosing of NSAIDs in relation to antimicrobials is important to know regarding odontogénica infections, prophylactic antimicrobial therapy and healing, and pediatric doses. Consequently, the purpose of this article is to date from 2004 to 2014 published articles describing the schemes and protocols in relation to the rational use of NSAIDs and antimicrobial agents in pediatric dentistry literature systematic review, in order to provide bibliographic scientific elements that encourage proper use thereof, to establish useful recommendations for professionals involved in the clinical management of pain and oral infections in children.
A PCR protocol was developed to identify strains of Salmonella from different sources using a set of “primers” PCR specific to Salmonella, for the recognition of 119 bp invA gene sequence. The results met the maxims of selectivity: inclusiveness, all strains of Salmonella presented positive signal for the gene, exclusivity since no strain Salmonella (Shigella, E. coli, E. coli O157: H7) showed no signal positive robustness because in the 14 strains of Salmonella expected signal was obtained in a total of four repetitions with equal working conditions in four non-consecutive days. Also it was reproducible, results were identical by modifying the reaction conditions. Comparing PCR with conventional culture, using non-selective pre-enrichment in peptone water and selective enrichment in selenite-cystine broth, it was found that the PCR was 100% sensitive and specific, with 100% of inclusiveness, 100% exclusive and 100% of both positive and negative predictive value.
