Superficial mycosis are an important health problem in enlisted military personnel. Considering this situation, a study was carried on, as to provide this personnel with a proposal for a health program aimed to the prevention and control of these pathologies. A review of the morbidity register in the Health Care Module of the 42 nd. Paratroopers brigade was performed plus an exam of the Health Care Module of the unit. A structured questionnaire was applied, as to assess the knowledge and personnal experience of the troop with the preventive measures recommended. Results revealed that specific morbidity for superficial mycosis represents 28.3% within general morbidity. The most frequent mycosis being ringworm and the group mainly affected were low degree troopers. Among methods stablished in the P.A.V. (In Force Anministrative Plan) as preventive measures lectures were performed as much as 75%; prophylactic checkups were not performed during January and February and sanitary inspections were completed in 25%. When the structured questionnaire was applied, 58% of the interviewed confirm that mycosis information was receided during lectures; 22% could not fulfill the preventive measures because of time limitations and or problems of water supply. 10% could not apply the recommended treatment because it wasn´t supplied by the unit drugstore. The interviewed suggested as the best means to be informed on superficial mycosis: lectures, pamphlets, videos, posters and billboards. Coverage of Cervix Cancer Prevention Program in Communities of Girardot Municipality.
Uterine cervix cancer is an important issue in Public Health of underdeveloped countries in spite of the avvailabity of cytology as an available method for its precocious detection and sifting of precursor lesions. In those countries where morbidity and mortality has declined, this has been achieved through the implementation of a preventive program. In Venezuela, and particularly in Aragua state, the program was reactivated in 1995 and coverage was increased as to achieve 58.7% by 2000. Meanwhile, in Girardot Municipality, the achievement was around 37.7%. This figure acted as motivating factor to performed a study in 10 communities as to assess the factors determining such variations. A cross sectional study was performed, and information was collected in sentinel, through a survey aimed to determine periodicity of cytology, and the Health Centers in which the samples were taken. The survey was applied in 887 houses with a sample of 689 women in ages between 25 and 64 years. Results demostrated that 95.2% have had at least one citology and 90% during the last there years. Assessed coverage was 85.7% of which 48.1% were performed in Public Health Services, mainly in women from the lower socio-economic strata. Cytology coverage in surveyed group is higher that the figures reported by the Health System during the same period. Proper use of the Health Information System of the Integral Health Care Model in out-patients Clinics.
In Venezuela, until 1994 the model of administrative management and the fragmented registration system were centralized. The studied sample comprises 6 health centers and 14 key informers. Analysis of the qualitative results was carried on by subject grouping of different areas within the evaluated system and the group of informers according to the reference levels within the health care establishments. As for the quantitative analysis concerns information and knowledge concerning management in SISMAI by the health team in its different reference levels, showed that 78.6% of the interviewed have an “inadequate level of knowledge”; “scarce or null”. When usefullness of SISMAI as a tool for decision making in the different levels of the out-patients clinics network was evaluated, 71.4 of the interviewed answered positively. A conclusion on the profitable use of SISMAI can be conclude. Finally, its application for increasing the quality of local health management are closely linked with attitudes of patients, terms and speed of the system in supplying the proper information and services and finally the political will of the Municipality Health Direction.
