This work suggests a synthesis to the apparent contradiction originated by the Socratic position towards traditional inherited religion and his philosophical need to examine everything; which is a contradiction which probably will only be solved through death itself. From the analysis of the Platonic dialogues Eutifron and Apology the specific Socratic attitude towards piety and religion are constructed. This paper offers philological considerations on piety and impiety but it fundamentally discusses the topic of the Socratic search of philosophical grounds in relation both with philosophy as well as with religion.
The poem of Parmenides to physis has caused many polemics since antiquity. From Zeno's paradoxes to the works of Heidegger and Jaeger, this poem has been the object of interpretations that have placed the philosopher of Elea at times among the deniers of appearances, and at other times, among those who only conceive being in relation to them. In this article the paths indocated by this poem are explored; and they can help to understand Parmenides himself, trying to redeem the forgotten road of opinion, to which this philosopher dedicated so many hexameters.
This article examines the concept of violence in some philosophic and literary authors, including the ideas of Hermes Trismegist, Dante Alighieri, Sigmund Freud, Voltaire, and especially Guy de Maupassant and Alphonse-Donatien, Marquis de Sade. The article analyses also the evolution of the concept of terror, which, being born from an idea that implies a menace to life, becomes finally a demonstration of how life maintains its autonomy and prevalence, in spite of the terror and violence that seem to reduce it existentially.
Philosophy of history has many currents.
