VASCO, Mauricio y VIGIL-DE GRACIA, Paulino. Abordaje del anestesiólogo en pacientes con hipertensión y embarazo. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2014, vol.74, n.1, pp.15-23. ISSN 0048-7732.
Increases in blood pressure are one of the major complications during pregnancy and threatening maternal and fetal health. The degree of the disease can vary from mild preeclampsia to eclampsia with HELLP syndrome. Opportune management of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy involves several medical professionals including anesthesiologists. It then requires that anesthesiologists have an excellent knowledge on the subject to give the management accepted. Management that directly involves the anesthesiologist usually includes adequate monitoring practice, control blood pressure, prevent seizures, limited and appropriate use of fluids, neuraxial approach in labor and cesarean, general anesthesia for caesarean section, the correct use of the uterotonic agents and post birth care. In this review we analyze in detail the current evidence suggested about the optimal management given by the anesthesiologist to patients complicated with preeclampsia/eclampsia.
