Resumen
ESCOBAR, M et al. Organic geochemical evaluation of the lower coal seams of the Paso Diablo mine, Guasare Basin: potential petroleum source rocks. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2015, vol.38, n.2, pp.139-149. ISSN 0254-0770.
The quality of potential petroleum source rock on 6 composite coal samples representing the 4M (Los Aceitunos area, outcrop), 3H, 3I, 3K, 3M and 2N seams (PSD-032A well Paso Diablo Sur, area) located in the Marcelina Formation, Paso Diablo mine, Mara Municipality, the State of Zulia, was revised. The presence of continental type III kerogen and a thermal maturity on the beginning of the oil generative curve for these samples are confirmed from the biomarkers assays and interpretations. The existence of continental crude oils produced from nearby wells establishes a hypothetic petroleum system over the study area.
