Abstract

We present a set of reflections on the Food and Nutrition Education in the context of early education with emphasis on: the nutritional component, dietary habits, teaching strategies, food culture and public policy. In support Qualitative research is focused on the interpretation of the Food and Nutrition Education, subjects were interviewed four experts in nutrition-education (INN-Education Division, Cania and Bengoa Foundation). For information processing was used grounded theory and constant comparative method (Strauss and Corbin, 2002) supported the Atlas-ti tool, version 5.0. Among the findings: the need for a comprehensive approach to food and nutrition education, the value of the diet for children, eating habits and their relationship with the lifestyles, the importance of food culture; actions the school to undertake and state responsibility in the prevention of chronic noncommunicable diseases.
