Resumen

ELLNER, Steve. Las complejidades de la izquierda radical latinoamericana en el poder: experiencias y desafíos en el siglo XXI. CDC [online]. 2013, vol.30, n.84, pp.1-28. ISSN 1012-2508.

The obstacles y complexities stemming from the experiences of the Latin American radical left in Venezuela, Bolivia and Ecuador in the 21st century are different from that of leftist governments in the 20th century throughout the world. Its class analysis concords with the «Post-Marxist» emphasis on heterogeneity and on irreconcilable interests among supporters of the process of change. This complexity contradicts the simplistic thesis of «good left» and «populist left» defended by Jorge Castañeda. While the thinking of its leaders is based on Marxism, the positions of the radical left have been influenced by the identification with Latin American tradition and nationalism in respect of: The relative weight of the marginalized population; the prioritization of social goals over economic ones; identification with Christianity; and promotion of Latin American unity.

Palabras clave : Radical Latin; American Left; Post-Marxism; Jorge Castañeda.
