Resumen

GONZALEZ, Miguel et al. The Atlas as Health Decision-Making Tools for the Regional Level. Terra [online]. 2013, vol.29, n.45, pp.83-105. ISSN 1012-7089.

The aim of this paper is to present how the so-called Atlas of Health have become tools for the development, democratization and right to public information on health through the application of the new Information and Communication Technologies. We believe that just as it has been in the past this tool supports a decision-making process more contextualized, and focused not only on the public health sector but on related sectors too. They are intended to meet the growing demands on information generated at several public and private organizations, but mainly by the Health Ministry of Jalisco, which is the institution that regulates and coordinates the decisions in the field. The Atlas gathers in one communicative space, relevant data and information, through an Internet platform. The Science and Technology Council of Jalisco has funded this project, called the “Health Atlas of Jalisco”, through the Social Sciences and Humanities University Center, an agency of the University of Guadalajara.
