Resumen

SALAZAR-LUGO, Raquel et al. Stress protein of 47 kda expressed in the kidney of juveniles of colossoma macropomum exposed to cadmium. Saber [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.1, pp.25-29. ISSN 1315-0162.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of cadmium, a temperature of 35º C and both Cd and temperature (Cd/35ºC), on the kidney protein profile of juveniles of the freshwater fish Colossoma macropomum; as well as to compare possible changes in the protein pattern of kidney exposed to these conditions. A group of fish was exposed for 21 days at 0.01 mg/L of Cd and for 8 days at 35°C; another group was exposed for 8 days to Cd/35ºC. After exposure, the fishes were sacrificed and dissected to extract the kidney to determine the protein profile. Kidney cytoplasmic fraction was obtained by differential centrifugation and protein concentration was determined by the Bradford method; protein profiles were made by eletrophoresis SDS-PAGE, revealed and quantified using the QuantityOne program. Exposure to Cd induced changes in the behavior of C. macropomum juveniles. In general terms, a decreased of appetite was evident and fish exposed to 35º and Cd/35º C showed changes in the escape response and were observed hungry. Electrophoresis profile revealed the induction of 47 kDa protein in fish exposed to Cd, while the group of fish exposed to Cd/35ºC showed a significant increase in total protein concentration. Cadmium induces the expression of 47 kDa stress protein in C. macropomum kidney.
