Abstract

CORDOVA, Doris. The school textbook from a didactic/ pedagogic approach, approximation to an analysis. Investigación y Postgrado [online]. 2012, vol.27, n.1, pp.195-222. ISSN 1316-0087.

As for this analysis, it was considered as important the approximation to definition some didactic/ pedagogic elements of the book “Venezuela y Su Gente”- Social studies for 4th grade; considering the importance as motivational and supporting element in the teaching-learning process of the textbook. The types of contents were taken as categories of analysis. These categories were: declarative, procedural and attitudinal, the prevailing direction in the teaching process, and the cognitive demand of the content. Therefore, the analysis of the didactic/ pedagogic elements of the above mentioned textbook was conducted with the previously mentioned categories of analysis. From the analysis, it was seen that the textbook of social studies focuses on developing declarative content. It offers low cognitive demand and the teaching direction of the contents helps the creation of disciplinary; but it does not help to create interdisciplinary topics nor to solve problems-as learning key elements.
