TORRES, Juan M et al. Path loss predictionmodel for WLAN operating at 2.4 ghz and 5.8 ghz, in indoor environments of commercial buildings. uct [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.78, pp.42-53. ISSN 1316-4821.
The practically unstoppable deployment of WLAN in the worldwide, both indoor and outdoor environments, requires the development of strategies, models, methods and techniques that increase accuracy in the planning and dimensioning process, in one of its main segments as radio propagation, thatit is closely related to the coverage prediction, in order to decrease the likelihood of oversized or undersized of such systems. Therefore, in this paper, it is developed a semi-empirical model for path loss prediction using the received power measurements in indoor environments performed on two commercial buildings of the Guayaquil city, Ecuador. The new model includes the signal attenuation when it to pass through floors and walls and a losses factor dependent of height transmitter as well considered a power loss exponent also related to that height. The developed model is compared with other existing models in the literature, in terms of the root mean square error (RMSE), showing a better performance of that model in all measurement scenarios considered.
