Abstract

ROJAS DE MORALES, Thais. Comportamiento Clínico de dos Cementos de Óxido de Cinc Eugenol y su relación con el Ph del Medio Bucal: Evaluación a los doce meses. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.3, pp.265-271. ISSN 0001-6365.

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the clinical performace of two reinforced zinc oxide cements, manufactured in Venezuela using experimental formulas, an organic methyl methacrylate polymer without previous treatment of the powder and an organic polystyrene polymer with previous nitric acid treatment . I.R.M. Caulkâ was used as control cement. This research was a randomized clinical trial, simple blind study. The control and experimental formulas were used in 150 dental cavities of primary molars, distibuited among 50 schoolchildren of both sexes, and between 5 and 12 years old. The standardized Ryge Clinical Criteria of: anatomic chape, marginal adaptation and incidence of caries were used. These finding were later correlated with the pH level found in the oral ambience. The results showed that there is no statistically difference between the clincal performane of the experimental formulas and the control cement. Also, no statistically signigicant difference was found when the clincal performance was correlated with the oral ambience (p>0.05). It was concluded that the three types of cements have show the same properties as far as their clinical perfomance indepent of the pH of the oral ambience of each individual.
