RAMIREZ MIRABAL, Rafael. Intellectual Property as support in knowledge management: Its importance for scietific ressearch process. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2014, vol.32, n.1, pp.53-61. ISSN 0798-7269.
It provides an overview of the intangible assets management arising from the scientific research knowledge, and how this constitutes a key factor to create competitive advantages for organizations. The creation of new products and services depends largely form the publicly funded research results dissemination and exploitation, so alternatives to protect these results as inventions through patents, or publish them on a scientific journal are also evaluated, so you can develop strategic and opportune coexistence of these two protection forms. Showing a new perspective in the management of intangible assets, the developed experience at the National Center for Animal and Plant Health (CENSA) of Cuba, is described. In this case an Internal Intellectual Property System has been implemented, in which the different actions related with knowledge transformation into intangibles assets ready for business, is managed as a process system that achieves effectiveness in completing research-business cycle, answering in a satisfactory way the organization interests. This system may be useful in other organizations with similar functions.
