This article points out different theoretical focuses on the management of knowledge in terms of its relation to the generation of innovative capacities and organizational learning. One of the processes that has favored the upsurge of the generation of knowledge is globalization. This paper attempts to comprehend the most essential principles in each one of the theoretical referents analyzed, and then to analyze the relations between them. The conclusion is that the number of companies immersed in this changing environment, characterized by a globalized world, and the changes innitiated within the companies themselves, have accelerated the generation and acquisition of new understanding and innovative capacities in order to reach competitive positions.
