GONZALEZ SILVA, Freddy. Etnodiscriminación hacia el afrovenezolano en la educación secundaria. Revista de Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.2, pp.329-348. ISSN 1315-9518.

Ethno-discrimination towards Afro-Venezuelans has been explored in several Venezuelan studies. Until now, research was limited to predominantly cognitive orientations. Almost imperceptible indications of discrimination in beliefs, attitudes, opinions and some other manifestations were detected. In this paper we detect that ethnic discrimination also has external manifestations that can be perceived in daily individual conduct in social interaction in adolescents. The problem has not been an easy one to explain because of the complexity of multiple signs present in social interaction in this age group, and in everything that this phenomenon implies, and for this reason a research methodology has been employed based on an analytical study, a field design, and the research technique of the survey. The instrument used was elaborated for this project. It consisted of a questionnaire of 30 items (25 closed, with several subsections and five open questions) which was field tested on two occasions. Two groups of adolescents were chosen and tested in school settings in relation to their social pertinence for education, and the age group which was the object of the study in terms of the future of the country. . This study hopes to present some findings on ethnic-discrimination towards african descent students in their daily social interactions, in order to reflexively assume and contribute to promromote future alternative means of action.
