Abstract

MONTILVA, Maira. Post-Ponement of Marriage on the Part of Women and Changes in Female Expectations in Relation to Love. Revista de Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.2, pp.332-341. ISSN 1315-9518.

Since the home is no longer the exclusive place for female development in society, changes have been occurring in gender roles and goals, which seem to have affected what young women consider to be a male partner and an ideal marital relation, postponing marital relationships. In this article we explore the expectations as to marital life for professionals, and the concept of an ideal relationship, postponing as a consequence the decision to marry. In this article we explore the expectations of professionals in two capital cities in Latin America, Santiago and Caracas, in relation to married life, for the purpose of showing the differences and distances that exist in relation to previous generations, and specifically the opinions of mothers with respect to feminine expectations in relation to love.

Keywords : Marital delay; marriage; women; feminine expectations; love.
