Este estudo investigou a prevalência de excesso de peso corporal e os fatores associados em escolares da Tríplice Fronteira: Argentina, Brasil e Paraguai. Participaram do estudo 1.183 escolares, de 15 a 18 anos de idade. O excesso de peso corporal foi identificado segundo os pontos de corte do índice de massa corporal, propostos pela Organização Mundial de Saúde. O questionário do Global School-Based Student Health Survey foi utilizado para identificar fatores sociodemográficos (sexo e faixa etária) e comportamentais (atividade física fora da escola, deslocamento à escola, tempo assistindo TV e consumo de frutas, vegetais, doces e salgados) associados ao excesso de peso corporal. Utilizou-se a estatística descritiva, análise de variância, qui-quadrado e regressão logística binária, adotando-se p&lt; 1 vez/dia) tiveram 2,2 e 2,9 vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que seus pares que realizavam deslocamento ativo e que consumiam vegetais diariamente, respectivamente. Estes resultados sugerem que políticas públicas de combate ao excesso de peso corporal devem focar a promoção hábitos saudáveis entre os jovens da Tríplice Fronteira.]]></p></abstract>

Os escolares brasileiros que se deslocavam &agrave; escola passivamente e os escolares argentinos com baixo consumo de vegetais (&lt; 1 vez/dia) tiveram 2,2 e 2,9 vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que seus pares que realizavam deslocamento ativo e que consumiam vegetais diariamente, respectivamente. <body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     <b>Key words:</b> Adolescents, overweight, body mass index, adolescent behavior, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font size="2" face="Verdana"><b>Recibido: 18/08/2010</b></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font size="2" face="Verdana"><b>Aceptado: 09/12/2010</b> </font> 					    <p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     <b>INTRODU&Ccedil;&Atilde;O</b></span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     O excesso de peso corporal &eacute; um desfecho que pode trazer graves implica&ccedil;&otilde;es &agrave; sa&uacute;de (1), sua origem &eacute; multifatorial (2), geralmente se inicia em fases precoces da vida (3) e est&aacute; associado &agrave;s elevadas taxas de morbidade e mortalidade em indiv&iacute;duos adultos (4).</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Na popula&ccedil;&atilde;o jovem, v&aacute;rios estudos t&ecirc;m procurado identificar os fatores comportamentais determinantes para o excesso de peso corporal, dentre eles pode-se destacar: baixos n&iacute;veis de atividade f&iacute;sica (5), elevado padr&atilde;o de comportamento sedent&aacute;rio (6), alimenta&ccedil;&atilde;o inadequada (7) e consumo de bebidas alco&oacute;licas (8). Al&eacute;m disso, algumas vari&aacute;veis sociodemogr&aacute;ficas tais como o sexo (9,10) e a faixa et&aacute;ria (11) t&ecirc;m sido frequentemente associadas ao excesso de peso corporal.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Apesar do avan&ccedil;o do conhecimento na &aacute;rea, nota-se ainda uma lacuna importante sobre a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o do excesso de peso corporal com vari&aacute;veis comportamentais e s&oacute;cio-demogr&aacute;ficas em regi&otilde;es na Am&eacute;rica do Sul, configurando-se em um l&oacute;cus importante para se realizar estudos dessa natureza.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Uma destas &aacute;reas de grande diversidade sociocultural na Am&eacute;rica do Sul &eacute; a regi&atilde;o de fronteira entre Argentina, Brasil e Paraguai, &aacute;rea denominada de Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira. O Fundo das Na&ccedil;&otilde;es Unidas para a Inf&acirc;ncia (UNICEF) (12) desenvolveu um relat&oacute;rio t&eacute;cnico para identificar os principais problemas sociais e de sa&uacute;de em crian&ccedil;as e adolescentes desta regi&atilde;o, destacando que a desnutri&ccedil;&atilde;o e as doen&ccedil;as respirat&oacute;rias s&atilde;o problemas de sa&uacute;de relevantes. Contudo, as informa&ccedil;&otilde;es sobre a propor&ccedil;&atilde;o de adolescentes expostos ao excesso de peso corporal n&atilde;o estiveram inseridas neste relat&oacute;rio.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Al&eacute;m disso, segundo revis&atilde;o da literatura realizada, nenhum outro estudo analisou a preval&ecirc;ncia de excesso de peso corporal e os fatores associados a este desfecho nos adolescentes da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira. A identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o destes fatores pode ser importante para a elabora&ccedil;&atilde;o de estrat&eacute;gias mais efetivas para a preven&ccedil;&atilde;o do excesso de peso corporal entre os jovens. Neste sentido, o objetivo do presente estudo foi identificar a preval&ecirc;ncia de excesso de peso corporal e os fatores associados em escolares da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira: Argentina, Brasil e Paraguai.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     <b>MATERIAIS E M&Eacute;TODOS</b></span></font>    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     O presente estudo foi desenvolvido com base no banco de dados do projeto de pesquisa intitulado “Comportamentos de risco &agrave; sa&uacute;de em adolescentes da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira: Argentina, Brasil e Paraguai”, realizado durante os meses de agosto e setembro de 2005. Trata-se de um estudo de delineamento transversal que investigou o excesso de peso corporal e os fatores associados em adolescentes da referida regi&atilde;o de fronteira. Os protocolos do estudo foram aprovados pelo Comit&ecirc; de &Eacute;tica da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, na regi&atilde;o Sul do Brasil (parecer 074/2005).</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     A regi&atilde;o da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira &eacute; composta pelas cidades de Puerto Iguazu (Argentina), Foz do Igua&ccedil;u (Brasil) e Ciudad Del Este (Paraguai). Segundo os n&uacute;cleos respons&aacute;veis pelo sistema de educa&ccedil;&atilde;o das supramencionadas cidades, a Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira continha 7.771 escolares (1.267 na Argentina, 3.210 no Brasil e 3.294 no Paraguai), de ambos os sexos, e idades de 15 a 18 anos, matriculados nas turmas de ensino m&eacute;dio das escolas p&uacute;blicas da regi&atilde;o. Calculou-se uma amostra aleat&oacute;ria representativa dos escolares de cada cidade envolvida no estudo, considerando o intervalo de confian&ccedil;a de 95% e o erro amostral de 5 pontos percentuais. Al&eacute;m disso, estimou-se a preval&ecirc;ncia de excesso de peso corporal em 35%, conforme os valores mais elevados apresentados na literatura (3). Ap&oacute;s um acr&eacute;scimo de 40% para eventuais perdas amostrais, foi obtido o tamanho amostral para o estudo de 1.269 adolescentes.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Do total de turmas de ensino m&eacute;dio nas tr&ecirc;s cidades envolvidas no presente estudo, 44 foram sorteadas para coleta de dados (16 turmas da Argentina, 18 do Brasil e 20 do Paraguai) e os respectivos alunos recrutados para o estudo (30-45 alunos por turma). Ap&oacute;s a coleta dos dados foram exclu&iacute;dos os escolares que preencheram os question&aacute;rios incorretamente ou que apresentaram idades incompat&iacute;veis com a popula&ccedil;&atilde;o de estudo (6,8% de perda amostral), restando para an&aacute;lise 1.183 adolescentes.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     O c&aacute;lculo do &iacute;ndice de massa corporal (massa corporal/estatura<sup>2</sup>) foi utilizado para identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o do excesso de peso corporal, por meio dos valores autoreportados de massa corporal (kg) e estatura (m). Essas medidas foram testadas em estudo piloto e apresentaram elevadas correla&ccedil;&otilde;es com medidas aferidas de estatura (r=0,95) e de massa corporal (r=0,86) em escolares da mesma regi&atilde;o (13). Al&eacute;m disso, medidas autoreportadas representam indicadores confi&aacute;veis (14) e s&atilde;o frequentemente utilizadas em estudos epidemiol&oacute;gicos envolvendo adolescentes (3). Foram considerados os valores do IMC por sexo e idade acima do percentil 85 como ponto de corte para o excesso de peso corporal, segundo recomenda&ccedil;&atilde;o da Organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o Mundial de Sa&uacute;de (OMS) (15).</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     No levantamento das informa&ccedil;&otilde;es referentes aos fatores sociodemogr&aacute;ficos e comportamentais, os escolares preencheram uma vers&atilde;o adaptada do question&aacute;rio Global School-Based Student Health Survey (16), desenvolvido pela OMS (17), em colabora&ccedil;&atilde;o com as Na&ccedil;&otilde;es Unidas e com a supervis&atilde;o do Centro de Controle e Preven&ccedil;&atilde;o de Doen&ccedil;as dos Estados Unidos (18). Duas vers&otilde;es do question&aacute;rio, uma em portugu&ecirc;s e outra em espanhol, foram testadas em estudo pr&eacute;vio (19). Em ambas as vers&otilde;es, as sete quest&otilde;es utilizadas neste estudo apresentaram valores de concord&acirc;ncia Kappa entre 0,40 e 0,88, indicando n&iacute;veis suficientes ou excelentes de reprodutibilidade teste-reteste. A aplica&ccedil;&atilde;o do question&aacute;rio foi feita pelo pesquisador principal e auxiliares treinados, com dura&ccedil;&atilde;o entre 25 e 30 minutos.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     O sexo (masculino e feminino) e a faixa et&aacute;ria (15-16 anos e 17-18 anos) dos escolares foram analisados no presente estudo como fatores sociodemogr&aacute;ficos. Al&eacute;m disso, foram consideradas sete quest&otilde;es sobre os comportamentos dos adolescentes: quatro relacionadas &agrave;s pr&aacute;ticas alimentares, duas relacionadas &agrave; pr&aacute;tica de atividade f&iacute;sica e uma sobre comportamento sedent&aacute;rio (tempo despendido assistindo TV).</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     O consumo de frutas, vegetais, doces (bolachas recheadas, biscoitos, bombons ou chocolates) e salgados (batata chips, cachorro quente, pastel, entre outros) na semana precedente &agrave; pesquisa foram categorizados segundo a frequ&ecirc;ncia di&aacute;ria de consumo (&lt; 1 vez ao dia e = 1 vez ao dia). Com rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave; pr&aacute;tica de atividade f&iacute;sica fora da escola na semana precedente &agrave; pesquisa, as respostas foram categorizadas em: n&atilde;o praticou atividade f&iacute;sica; praticou de 1 a 4 dias na semana e praticou mais de 5 dias na semana. Outra quest&atilde;o se referiu a forma de deslocamento &agrave; escola, categorizando-se em deslocamento ativo (a p&eacute;/bicicleta) e passivo (carro/&ocirc;nibus/moto). Por fim, o tempo despendido assistindo TV foi considerado como comportamento sedent&aacute;rio, classificando-o segundo a dura&ccedil;&atilde;o di&aacute;ria nesta atividade (&lt; 2 horas ao dia e = 2 horas ao dia).</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     Os dados foram digitados em um banco de dados constru&iacute;do especificamente para este estudo a partir do programa Epidata 3.1. Em seguida, as informa&ccedil;&otilde;es foram analisadas com aux&iacute;lio do programa estat&iacute;stico SPSS (vers&atilde;o 15.0). A distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o em frequ&ecirc;ncias foi utilizada para descri&ccedil;&atilde;o das vari&aacute;veis de estudo. O teste de Qui-quadrado (X<sup>2</sup>) foi utilizado para verificar diferen&ccedil;as na propor&ccedil;&atilde;o de excesso de peso corporal entre as categorias dos fatores sociodemogr&aacute;ficos e comportamentais. A regress&atilde;o log&iacute;stica bin&aacute;ria foi utilizada para verificar a associa&ccedil;&atilde;o entre estes fatores e o excesso de peso corporal, mediante os valores de odds ratio (OR) e seus respectivos intervalos de confian&ccedil;a de 95% (IC 95%). Os valores de OR (IC 95%) para cada vari&aacute;vel foram ajustados pelas demais vari&aacute;veis independentes inseridas no modelo de regress&atilde;o. Em todos os procedimentos a amostra foi estratificada por nacionalidade, adotando-se um n&iacute;vel de signific&acirc;ncia de 5%.</span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     <b>RESULTADOS</b></span></font>    <p align="justify"> 					<font face="Verdana" size="2"><span>                     A presente investiga&ccedil;&atilde;o teve maior participa&ccedil;&atilde;o de escolares brasileiros (38,3%). As caracter&iacute;sticas sociodemogr&aacute;ficas e comportamentais dos escolares est&atilde;o apresentadas na 					<a href="#tab1">Tabela 1</a>. O excesso de peso corporal foi verificado em 13,1% dos escolares. Verificou-se tamb&eacute;m que 21,5% dos escolares n&atilde;o praticavam atividade f&iacute;sica fora do ambiente escolar, enquanto 22,5% realizavam o deslocamento &agrave; escola passivamente (carro/&ocirc;nibus/moto). Al&eacute;m disso, 36,9% dos escolares assistiam TV durante duas ou mais horas ao dia. Quanto aos h&aacute;bitos alimentares, os resultados mostraram que apenas 14,4% e 23,8% dos escolares consumiam frutas e vegetais pelo menos uma vez ao dia, respectivamente. Em contrapartida, constatou-se que 11,4% e 19,5% dos escolares consumiam salgados e doces ao menos uma vez por dia, respectivamente.</span></font>    ]]></body>

<p align="justify"> 					<span>                     <font face="Verdana" size="2">Na <a href="#tab2">Tabela 2</a> pode ser verificada a preval&ecirc;ncia de excesso de peso corporal segundo a nacionalidade e as vari&aacute;veis sociodemogr&aacute;ficas e comportamentais. Os rapazes tiveram propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal significativamente superiores quando comparados &agrave;s mo&ccedil;as, independentemente da nacionalidade (p<0,05). Os escolares brasileiros que realizavam deslocamento ativo &agrave; escola tiveram propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal significativamente menores do que seus pares que utilizavam transporte passivo (p=0,018). Os escolares paraguaios que consumiam frutas ou vegetais pelo menos uma vez ao dia apresentaram propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal significativamente inferiores aos seus pares que n&atilde;o consumiam estes alimentos diariamente (p=0,022 e p=0,015, respectivamente). Estes resultados tamb&eacute;m foram identificados para o consumo de vegetais entre os escolares argentinos (p=0,006). Embora n&atilde;o tenham apresentado valores estatisticamente significativos, os escolares argentinos e paraguaios que consumiam doces pelo menos uma vez ao dia tiveram propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal maiores do que seus pares que n&atilde;o consumiam estes alimentos diariamente (p=0,063 e p=0,065, respectivamente). <p align="justify">As rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre o excesso de peso corporal e as vari&aacute;veis sociodemogr&aacute;ficas e comportamentais est&atilde;o apresentadas na 					<a href="#tab3">Tabela 3</a>. Os valores de OR (IC 95%) indicaram que os rapazes da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira apresentaram mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que as mo&ccedil;as, mesmo ap&oacute;s os ajustes estat&iacute;sticos &agrave;s demais vari&aacute;veis inseridas no modelo de regress&atilde;o. Os rapazes brasileiros apresentaram 95% mais chances de apresentar excesso de peso corporal do que as mo&ccedil;as brasileiras, enquanto os rapazes argentinos e paraguaios tiveram em torno de duas vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que as mo&ccedil;as de mesma nacionalidade.</p> 					    <p align="center"><a name="tab3"> 					<img border="0" src="/img/fbpe/alan/v60n4/art04tab3.gif" width="551" height="618"></a></p> 					    
<p align="justify">Os escolares brasileiros que realizaram o deslocamento passivo &agrave; escola tiveram em torno de duas vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que seus pares que se deslocavam ativamente. Al&eacute;m disso, os adolescentes argentinos que n&atilde;o consumiam vegetais diariamente tiveram aproximadamente tr&ecirc;s vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que seus pares com consumo di&aacute;rio de vegetais. Os valores de OR (IC 95%) apontaram uma maior chance de apresentar excesso de peso corporal nos escolares argentinos e paraguaios que consumiam doces diariamente, quando comparados aos escolares com baixo consumo de doces (&lt; 1 vez/dia), embora n&atilde;o tenham sido significativos estatisticamente (p=0,052 e p=0,065, respectivamente). A faixa et&aacute;ria, a atividade f&iacute;sica fora da escola, o tempo despendido assistindo TV e o consumo de frutas, de salgados e de doces n&atilde;o estiveram associados com o excesso de peso corporal, independentemente da nacionalidade dos escolares (p>0,05).</p> 					    <p align="justify"><b>DISCUSS&Atilde;O</b></p> 					    <p align="justify">A regi&atilde;o da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira &eacute; composta por adolescentes de diferentes nacionalidades, etnias e culturas, que participam dos intensos movimentos de circula&ccedil;&atilde;o de pessoas. Nesta regi&atilde;o, o relat&oacute;rio t&eacute;cnico realizado pelo UNICEF (12) destacou diversos problemas sociais e de sa&uacute;de como prioridades para as pol&iacute;ticas p&uacute;blicas nos jovens, como a desnutri&ccedil;&atilde;o, explora&ccedil;&atilde;o sexual de menores, tr&aacute;fico de drogas e doen&ccedil;as respirat&oacute;rias. Contudo, os resultados do presente estudo evidenciaram que o excesso de peso corporal tamb&eacute;m pode ser considerado um s&eacute;rio problema de sa&uacute;de p&uacute;blica, pois afeta grande parcela da popula&ccedil;&atilde;o escolar nas cidades da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira (um em cada oito escolares da regi&atilde;o apresentou excesso de peso corporal).</p> 					    <p align="justify">As propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal encontradas no presente estudo foram semelhantes &agrave;s de outros estudos realizados na Argentina (20), Brasil (9,11,21), e Paraguai (22), os quais consideraram o excesso de peso corporal como relevante problema de sa&uacute;de p&uacute;blica entre os jovens das localidades estudadas. Os resultados deste estudo foram similares aos de outros pa&iacute;ses envolvendo jovens da Am&eacute;rica do Sul (23,24,25), Am&eacute;rica do Norte (10,26) e Europa (3,27,28). Como o excesso de peso corporal est&aacute; associado com o surgimento de diversos problemas de sa&uacute;de ainda na adolesc&ecirc;ncia que podem perdurar at&eacute; a vida adulta (29,30), sugere-se que pol&iacute;ticas p&uacute;blicas de promo&ccedil;&atilde;o da sa&uacute;de na regi&atilde;o da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira tamb&eacute;m direcionem suas a&ccedil;&otilde;es para preven&ccedil;&atilde;o e tratamento do excesso de peso corporal entre os escolares.</p> 					    <p align="justify">O sexo foi o principal fator sociodemogr&aacute;fico associado com o excesso de peso corporal entre os escolares da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira, considerando-se o sexo masculino como o subgrupo com mais chances de apresentar excesso de peso corporal, independentemente da nacionalidade. Estes resultados est&atilde;o de acordo com outros estudos j&aacute; realizados (10,31,32). Entretanto, outros estudos indicaram o sexo feminino como o subgrupo de maior risco ao excesso de peso corporal (22,24,33).</p> 					    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify">A faixa et&aacute;ria foi um fator sociodemogr&aacute;fico que n&atilde;o apresentou associa&ccedil;&atilde;o com o excesso de peso corporal entre os escolares. Entretanto, o presente estudo foi realizado com um grupo et&aacute;rio de baixa abrang&ecirc;ncia (escolares de 15 a 18 anos de idade), bem como n&atilde;o analisou outros fatores sociodemogr&aacute;ficos frequentemente associados com o excesso de peso corporal em adolescentes, como a escolaridade dos pais (9,11), condi&ccedil;&atilde;o econ&ocirc;mica (34,35) e o tipo de escola (36). Desta forma, sugere-se a realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o de estudos futuros visando identificar outras importantes vari&aacute;veis sociodemogr&aacute;ficas que podem estar associadas com o excesso de peso corporal nos escolares da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira.</p> 					    <p align="justify">Quanto aos fatores comportamentais, os resultados indicaram que os adolescentes brasileiros que realizavam deslocamento passivo &agrave; escola (&ocirc;nibus/carro/moto) tiveram duas vezes mais chances de ter excesso de peso corporal do que os escolares com deslocamento ativo, mesmo ap&oacute;s os ajustes estat&iacute;sticos &agrave;s demais vari&aacute;veis inseridas no modelo de regress&atilde;o. Estes resultados corroboram com outro estudo realizado com escolares brasileiros (37). O deslocamento ativo como meio de transporte se tornou uma das principais fontes de atividade f&iacute;sica da popula&ccedil;&atilde;o, principalmente devido ao estilo de vida hipocin&eacute;tico adotado por grande parte dos jovens (38). Desta forma, os resultados do presente estudo foram consistentes com as evid&ecirc;ncias de que o deslocamento ativo &agrave; escola pode ser um importante tipo de atividade f&iacute;sica entre escolares e pode ter implica&ccedil;&otilde;es na sa&uacute;de destes indiv&iacute;duos (39). Nos escolares argentinos e paraguaios, entretanto, o deslocamento &agrave; escola n&atilde;o esteve significativamente associado com o excesso de peso corporal.</p> 					    <p align="justify">Em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o aos comportamentos alimentares, os resultados evidenciaram que os escolares argentinos que n&atilde;o consumiam vegetais diariamente tiveram maiores propor&ccedil;&otilde;es de excesso de peso corporal, quando comparados aos seus pares que relataram consumo di&aacute;rio. Al&eacute;m disso, nos adolescentes paraguaios, verificou-se que o consumo di&aacute;rio de frutas e verduras esteve associado com a baixa preval&ecirc;ncia de excesso de peso corporal. Frutas e verduras s&atilde;o alimentos ricos em &aacute;gua, fibras e nutrientes que representam importantes partes de uma alimenta&ccedil;&atilde;o saud&aacute;vel (33,40). N&atilde;o obstante, o h&aacute;bito de consumir esses alimentos na adolesc&ecirc;ncia pode perdurar &agrave; vida adulta, colaborando para a diminui&ccedil;&atilde;o do risco de muitas doen&ccedil;as cr&ocirc;nico-degenerativas, incluindo c&acirc;ncer, doen&ccedil;as cardiovasculares e infartos (41,42).</p> 					    <p align="justify">Embora o consumo de doces n&atilde;o tenha mostrado associa&ccedil;&atilde;o estatisticamente significativa com o excesso de peso corporal, os valores de OR (IC 95%) apontaram uma tend&ecirc;ncia para maior chance de ter excesso de peso corporal nos escolares argentinos e paraguaios com consumo di&aacute;rio de doces. Estudos pr&eacute;vios identificaram o consumo de doces como um fator comportamental significativamente associado ao excesso de peso corporal entre jovens (43,44). Contudo, diante dos resultados do presente estudo, evidenciou-se que h&aacute;bitos alimentares saud&aacute;veis, principalmente a ingest&atilde;o di&aacute;ria de alimentos com baixo valor cal&oacute;rico (frutas e vegetais), foram inversa e significativamente associados com o excesso de peso corporal entre os escolares da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira.</p> 					    <p align="justify">A utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o de uma amostra representativa dos escolares da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira pode ser destacada como um ponto forte do presente estudo, uma vez que permitiu apresentar um panorama dos jovens estudantes das tr&ecirc;s diferentes cidades inseridas nesta regi&atilde;o. Al&eacute;m disso, a identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o dos fatores associados ao excesso de peso corporal foi importante por indicar os principais subgrupos de risco ao desenvolvimento deste desfecho. Contudo, o presente estudo teve algumas limita&ccedil;&otilde;es que devem ser destacadas. A primeira est&aacute; relacionada &agrave; utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o de medidas autoreportadas para determina&ccedil;&atilde;o das vari&aacute;veis de estudo, principalmente do excesso de peso corporal. Embora tenham apresentado boa correla&ccedil;&atilde;o com medidas aferidas em estudo piloto e sejam frequentemente utilizadas no diagn&oacute;stico do estado nutricional, os valores de estatura e massa corporal autoreportados tendem a ser superestimados ou subestimados por indiv&iacute;duos jovens (45). A segunda limita&ccedil;&atilde;o do presente estudo foi a n&atilde;o inclus&atilde;o de escolas particulares na sele&ccedil;&atilde;o da amostra, o que impossibilita a generaliza&ccedil;&atilde;o dos resultados para todos os escolares das cidades da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira. Por fim, h&aacute; tamb&eacute;m a possibilidade de causalidade reversa que &eacute; uma caracter&iacute;stica inerente ao delineamento transversal adotado no presente estudo. Portanto, os resultados aqui apresentados devem ser interpretados com devida cautela.</p> 					    <p align="justify">Os resultados do presente estudo indicaram uma elevada propor&ccedil;&atilde;o de escolares com excesso de peso corporal na regi&atilde;o da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira. Pertencer ao sexo masculino nas tr&ecirc;s nacionalidades, o deslocamento &agrave; escola de forma n&atilde;o ativa nos adolescentes brasileiros e o baixo consumo de vegetais nos argentinos foram os principais fatores associados ao excesso de peso corporal. Estes resultados sugerem que pol&iacute;ticas de promo&ccedil;&atilde;o de sa&uacute;de voltadas aos escolares da regi&atilde;o da Tr&iacute;plice Fronteira tamb&eacute;m foquem o combate e a preven&ccedil;&atilde;o do excesso de peso corporal, direcionando suas a&ccedil;&otilde;es principalmente aos comportamentos e subgrupos de maior risco para o desenvolvimento deste desfecho na adolesc&ecirc;ncia.</p> 					    <p align="justify"><b>REFER&Ecirc;NCIAS</b></p> 					    <!-- ref --><p align="justify">1.
