Se reconoce la esencialidad de los omega-3 en funciones corporales clave y su potencial preventivo en enfermedades.  Objetivo:  realizar un análisis detallado de los beneficios de los ácidos grasos omega-3 en la salud humana.  Materiales y métodos:  Estudio bibliométrico. Para la búsqueda de artículos se utilizó la base de datos Scopus; se encontraron 749 artículos relevantes sobre ácidos grasos omega-3, con un enfoque en nutrición, medicina y enfermería. Se aplicaron técnicas bibliométricas y programas estadísticos como VOSviewer y Excel para analizar redes de citaciones, y co-palabras, con el propósito de identificar patrones y tendencias en la investigación.  Resultados:  El omega-3, esencial para el cuerpo humano y obtenido a través de la dieta, ofrece una variedad de beneficios como la reducción del riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares, la disminución de la inflamación crónica y la mejora de trastornos metabólicos y neurológicos. Mantener una ingesta adecuada es crucial para prevenir enfermedades y promover la salud.  Conclusiones:  Se concluyó que la incorporación de ácidos grasos omega-3 en la dieta desempeña un rol fundamental en la prevención de enfermedades crónicas y en el mantenimiento de una salud óptima. Se destaca la necesidad de investigar más para entender mejor los efectos y usos de los omega-3 en la salud y el bienestar humano con la finalidad de ahondar en los conocimientos relacionados a los beneficios de estos ácidos grasos poliinsaturados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  The study focuses on the bibliometric analysis of research on omega-3 fatty acids, with emphasis on its impact on health and well-being. The essentiality of omega-3s in key bodily functions and their preventive potential in diseases is recognized.  Objective:  To carry out a detailed analysis of the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids on human health.  Materials and methods:  Bibliometric study. To search for articles, the Scopus database was used; 749 relevant articles on omega-3 fatty acids were found, with a focus on nutrition, medicine and nursing. Bibliometric techniques and statistical programs such as VOSviewer and Excel were applied to analyze citation networks and co-words, with the purpose of identifying patterns and trends in the research.  Results:  Omega-3, essential for the human body and obtained through diet, offers a variety of benefits such as reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, reducing chronic inflammation and improving metabolic and neurological disorders. Maintaining adequate intake is crucial to preventing disease and promoting health.  Conclusions:  It was concluded that the incorporation of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet plays a fundamental role in the prevention of chronic diseases and the maintenance of optimal health. The need for more research is highlighted to better understand the effects and uses of omega-3 on human health and well-being in order to deepen the knowledge related to the benefits of these polyunsaturated fatty acids.]]></p></abstract>
