Three batch reactor of 500 mL capacity were mounted containing water from the patio of tank Ulé, Maracaibo. Initially the reactors were operated under mesophilic condition and then the temperature was increased to a ratio of 1°C/día until reaching the temperature of 55°C ± 1°C. The time of reaction in all the cases was of 24h. The pursuit of the systems was carried out by of the measured of the chemical organic demand (COD), volatile suspended solids (VSS) and total (TSS), alkalinity, pH, volatile fats acids (VFA), biogas produced, methane percentage in the biogas. The results show that the waters from crude oil production provide the nutritional requirements for the development of the anaerobic microorganisms. The biodegradability of the APPL was not improved when being treated under thermophilic condition. It was a contrary case with the APPM and APPP. On the other hand, the biodegradability of the water from crude oil production is related with the composition of crude which ones the water is associated]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Se estudió la biodegradabilidad anaerobia de las Aguas de Producción de Petróleo (APP) proveniente de la extracción de crudo liviano (APPL), mediano (APPM) y pesado (APPP) bajo condiciones termofílicas. Se trabajó con tres reactores por carga de 500 mL, cada uno conteniendo agua de producción procedente del Patio de Tanque de Ulé, Costa Oriental del Lago de Maracaibo. Inicialmente los reactores fueron operados bajo condiciones mesofílicas y luego se incrementó la temperatura a razón de 1°C/día hasta alcanzar la temperatura de 55°C ± 1°C. El tiempo de reacción en todos los casos fue de 24 h. El seguimiento de los sistemas se realizó mediante la medición de la Demanda Química de Oxígeno (DQO), Sólidos Suspendidos Volátiles (SSV) y Totales (SST), alcalinidad, pH, Ácidos Grasos Volátiles (AGV), volumen de biogás, porcentaje de metano en el biogás. Los resultados muestran que las aguas de producción proporcionan los requerimientos nutricionales para el desarrollo de los microorganismos anaerobios. La biodegradabilidad del efluente APPL no se ve mejorada al ser tratado bajo condiciones termofílicas; caso contrario con los efluentes APPM y APPP. En el a&#241;o 2001, la producci&#243;n de crudo fue de 3,55 millones  de barriles por d&#237;a y se ha estimado que para el a&#241;o 2010 la producci&#243;n  alcance los 5 millones de barriles por d&#237;a.&nbsp; </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> El agua de formaci&#243;n es aquella que se encuentra naturalmente en las rocas  y est&#225; presente antes de la perforaci&#243;n de un pozo, su composici&#243;n depende  del origen del agua y de la modificaci&#243;n que pueda ocurrir una vez que  entra en el ambiente del subsuelo <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[1]. Las aguas de formaci&#243;n deben ser  obtenidas del fondo de los pozos, sin embargo, por razones de costo, las  muestras son tomadas a nivel de superficie, en el cabezal del pozo. A medida  que suben en la columna, desde el pozo hasta llegar a la superficie, sus  caracter&#237;sticas var&#237;an debido a los cambios de presi&#243;n, temperatura y composici&#243;n  de los gases. Por esta raz&#243;n, la denominaci&#243;n apropiada para estas muestras  es Agua de Producci&#243;n (AP).&nbsp;</FONT> </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Las AP presentan una composici&#243;n compleja ya que contienen crudo libre  y emulsionado, hidrocarburos, s&#243;lidos suspendidos, gases, sales, mercaptanos  y otros compuestos <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[2]; y son tratadas por m&#233;todos fisicoqu&#237;micos y normalmente  reinyectadas.&nbsp;</FONT> </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> El campo de Ul&#233; representa el 32.31% del AP de la regi&#243;n Occidental del  pa&#237;s (305MBD). La capacidad instalada de tratamiento y re-inyecci&#243;n en  la regi&#243;n para el a&#241;o 2001, fue de 330 MBD y 370 MBD respectivamente, estim&#225;ndose  para el a&#241;o 2010 un d&#233;ficit de 115 BDM tanto para el tratamiento como para  la re-inyecci&#243;n <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[3]. Estos datos muestran la urgencia de conseguir m&#233;todos  alternos de tratamiento y disposici&#243;n de las AP.&nbsp;</FONT> </FONT></P>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> El tratamiento anaerobio como m&#233;todo de estabilizaci&#243;n de la materia org&#225;nica  constituye una alternativa de tratamiento de las aguas industriales y de  alimentos. Estudios han mostrado su viabilidad en el tratamiento de aguas  de origen arom&#225;ticos de la industria qu&#237;mica y petroqu&#237;mica </FONT><font face="Verdana" size="2">[4, 5]</font><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" FACE="Symbol" SIZE="2">. </FONT> <font face="Verdana" size="2"> En  los procesos anaerobios la materia org&#225;nica es transformada en biomasa,  compuestos inorg&#225;nicos y org&#225;nicos, donde la mayor parte son vol&#225;tiles  (CO<sub>2</sub>, CH<sub>4</sub>, H<sub>2</sub>S, N<sub>2 </sub> y H<sub>2</sub>) [6]. Al comparar el tratamiento anaerobio termof&#237;lico  con el tratamiento anaerobio mesof&#237;lico se observa que pueden tener altas  cargas org&#225;nicas (CO), con alta producci&#243;n de metano, peque&#241;a producci&#243;n  de lodo y un efecto sanitario por las altas temperaturas [7, 8].&nbsp;</font></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar la biodegradabilidad anaerobia  de las aguas de producci&#243;n de petr&#243;leo bajo condiciones termof&#237;licas en  reactores por carga.&nbsp; </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"> <B><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Parte Experimental&nbsp; </FONT></B> </P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"> <B><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Equipo experimental&nbsp; </FONT></B> </P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Se colocaron cuatro (4) reactores de 500 mL cada uno, conteniendo el 20%  del volumen &#250;til lodo granular mesof&#237;lico procedente de una industria cervecera,  y el 80% del volumen &#250;til el efluente a tratar. Los reactores estuvieron  sumergidos en un ba&#241;o t&#233;rmico (Digisystem Lab. DSB-1000D) que permiti&#243;  controlar la temperatura. El biog&#225;s producido fue recogido por desplazamiento  de agua (<a href="#fig1">Figura 1</a>).&nbsp; </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="center" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><a name="fig1"><img border="0" src="/img/fbpe/rtfiuz/v30n2/art01fig1.gif" width="565" height="243"></a></P>     
<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><font face="Verdana" size="2"> Inicialmente los reactores se cargaron, por diez d&#237;as, con D + glucosa  a una concentraci&#243;n equivalente en DQO de 1500 mg/L y soluci&#243;n de nutrientes [9], por un tiempo de retenci&#243;n de 24 horas. Posteriormente se agreg&#243; a  tres reactores agua procedente de las extracciones de petr&#243;leo de corte  liviano APPL (RCL), mediano APPM (RCM) y pesado APPP (RCP), respectivamente.  El cuarto reactor trabaj&#243; con glucosa (D + glucosa) como sustrato (RG)  a una concentraci&#243;n equivalente a 1500 mgDQO/L bajo las mismas condiciones,  el cual se utiliz&#243; como referencia. Manteniendo la alcalinidad en 1500  mg CaCO<sub>3</sub>/L mediante la adici&#243;n de bicarbonato de sodio.&nbsp;</font></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"> <B><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Agua residual&nbsp; </FONT></B> </P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Las aguas de producci&#243;n se obtuvieron del Patio de Tanques de Ul&#233;, ubicado  en la Costa Oriental del Lago de Maracaibo estado Zulia, Venezuela. Las  aguas provienen de las segregaciones T&#237;a Juana Liviano (TJL), Urdaneta  Pesado (UP), T&#237;a Juana Mediano (TJM) y las deshidrataciones en los Patios  de Punta Gorda (Rosa Mediano y RM), Shell Ul&#233;, F-6/H-7 y Terminal Lacustre  La Salina (TLLS). Estas aguas se obtuvieron de la separaci&#243;n del agua asociada  a la extracci&#243;n de crudo liviano (&gt;31,8&#176;API) APPL, crudo mediano (22&#176;API-29,9&#176;API)  APPM, y crudo pesado (10&#176;API-21,9&#176;API) APPP, clasificaci&#243;n seg&#250;n el Instituto  Americano del Petr&#243;leo <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[10].&nbsp;</FONT> </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Las muestras de los diferentes cortes (liviano, mediano y pesado) se colectaron  por un muestreo simple cada 15 d&#237;as, se almacenaron en recipientes pl&#225;sticos  de 20 L, se trasladaron al laboratorio y se refrigeraron a 4&#176;C para su  conservaci&#243;n.&nbsp; </FONT></P>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"> <B><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Control y an&#225;lisis del sistema&nbsp; </FONT></B> </P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Para evaluar la biodegradabilidad de las aguas de producci&#243;n se agregaron  concentraciones en el rango de 1200-1300 mgDQO/L, 857-960 mgDQO/L y 860-870  mgDQO/L de APPL, APPM y APPP, a los reactores RCL, RCM y RCP, respectivamente.  Posteriormente para alcanzar la condici&#243;n termof&#237;lica (55&#176;C <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">&#177; 1&#176;C) se procedi&#243;  a aumentar la temperatura desde la condici&#243;n mesof&#237;lica (37&#176;C &#177; 1&#176;C) a  la raz&#243;n de 1&#176;C/d&#237;a. Los reactores anaer&#243;bicos por carga se evaluaron a  un tiempo de retenci&#243;n de 24 horas por 36 d&#237;as. Como se observa, las aguas  pueden proporcionar los requerimientos de nutrientes. Los valores del pH y de la alcalinidad  para los reactores RCL y RCM durante el tratamiento de las APPL y APPM  estuvieron dentro de valores operacionales <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[13,14]. En el caso del reactor  RCP para el APPP, la alcalinidad estuvo relativamente baja; sin embargo,  el pH del reactor estuvo ligeramente b&#225;sico indicando que no present&#243; problemas  de acidificaci&#243;n. <body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> La comparaci&#243;n de la biodegradabilidad de las aguas de producci&#243;n frente  a la biodegradabilidad de la D + Glucosa (RCG) se presenta en la <a href="#Tabla 3"> Tabla 3</a>. Se puede observar que la biodegradabilidad del APPL bajo condiciones  termof&#237;licas es similar a la reportada por Rinc&#243;n <FONT COLOR="#1f1a17">[15] para condiciones  mesof&#237;licas, indicando estos valores que las APPL presentan buena biodegradabilidad  bajo condiciones anaerobias; sin embargo, para las APPM y APPP, la situaci&#243;n  es diferente. En condiciones termof&#237;licas la biodegradabilidad del APPM  es del 86% frente a 20% bajo condiciones mesofilicas, y en caso del APPP  es del 43% frente a 0%. Estos resultados indican que bajo condiciones termofilicas  la biodegradabilidad de las aguas de producci&#243;n se ven favorecidas probablemente  debido al aumento de la actividad enzim&#225;tica de los microorganismos.&nbsp;</FONT> </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><font face="Verdana" size="2"> Estudios realizados han demostrado la biodegradabilidad anaerobia de efluentes  complejos asociados a derivados del petr&#243;leo (provenientes de refiner&#237;as,  industrias qu&#237;micas y petroqu&#237;micas). Rodr&#237;guez y col. [16], evaluaron  la biodegradabilidad anaerobia termof&#237;lica (55&#176;C) de residuos aceitosos,  reportaron porcentajes de remoci&#243;n de DQO entre 20% y 65%, infieren que  la actividad de los microorganismos metanog&#233;nicos se ve afectada por la  composici&#243;n del efluente. Rinc&#243;n y col. [17], evaluaron el TRH &#243;ptimo para  un sistema de tratamiento anaerobio (UASB), utilizando aguas de producci&#243;n  de petr&#243;leo liviano, a condiciones mesof&#237;licas (37 &#177; 1&#176;C) y TRH de 36,  24, 17, 11, 8 y 6 horas. Para una carga org&#225;nica de 1,20 &#177; 0,09 kgDQO/m<sup>3</sup>d  y TRH de 24 &#177; 2 horas reportaron porcentajes de remoci&#243;n de DQO promedio  de 76,2% &#177; 5,3. Indicaron que el TRH &#243;ptimo fue de 15 horas, donde obtuvieron  porcentajes de remoci&#243;n de DQO y metano superiores al 80%. Encontraron  que a TRH menores a 10 horas hubo inhibici&#243;n de las metanobacterias, evidenciado  por las altas concentraciones de AGV y los bajos porcentajes de remoci&#243;n  de DQO. Charest y col. [18], evaluaron la biodegradabilidad anaerobia mesof&#237;lica  (37&#176;C) de efluentes de una refiner&#237;a petroqu&#237;mica con un consorcio de microorganismos  metanog&#233;nicos. Obtuvieron reducciones de fenoles y compuestos fen&#243;licos  del 97% y 83&nbsp;%, respectivamente, para un TRH de 6 horas.&nbsp;</font></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Otro aspecto importante de resaltar lo constituye la diferencia de biodegradabilidad  experimentada por cada tipo de agua, que puede ser observada al comparar  los valores de remoci&#243;n de DQO para cada corte (APPL 70,7%, APPM 59,9%  y APPP 62,1%). Esta diferencia podr&#237;a estar relacionada con la composici&#243;n  del crudo, ya que la mezcla de compuestos paraf&#237;nicos, naft&#233;nicos y arom&#225;ticos  que est&#225;n presentes en el crudo pueden sufrir reacciones por la oxidaci&#243;n  y polimerizaci&#243;n de ciertos hidrocarburos, origin&#225;ndose otros compuestos  como asf&#225;lticos y resinosos.&nbsp; </FONT></P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> La <a href="#Tabla 4"> Tabla 4 </a> muestra los valores medios de an&#225;lisis SARA (saturados, arom&#225;ticos,  resinas y asfaltenos) para los cortes de crudo liviano y pesado en la Regi&#243;n  Occidental de Venezuela, durante el periodo de experimentaci&#243;n. Se observa  que para el caso de petr&#243;leo liviano, la suma de las fracciones de saturados  y arom&#225;ticos constituye el 73,07%, mientras que las resinas y los asfaltenos  representan el 22,29% y 3,47% respectivamente. Por otra parte, la fracci&#243;n  de saturados y arom&#225;ticos para el crudo pesado representa el 67,65%, mientras  que la fracci&#243;n de resinas y asfaltenos representa el 25,47% y el 6,37%  respectivamente. Existe una diferencia de 5,42% en las fracciones de saturados  y arom&#225;ticos para los dos cortes, los cuales se ven incrementados en las  fracciones de resinas y asfaltenos para el corte pesado. Esta diferencia  de composici&#243;n observada en el an&#225;lisis de SARA para los cortes liviano  y pesado, indica que deben existir compuestos en los crudos que pueden  ser transferidos a las aguas en contacto con estos, influyendo en su biodegradabilidad.  Algunos estudios sobre biodegradabilidad del petr&#243;leo plantean que primero  se degradan las fracciones lineales y sucesivamente se van degradando los  compuestos m&#225;s pesados. <body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"> <B><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Conclusiones&nbsp; </FONT></B> </P>     <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="#1f1a17" size="2" face="Verdana"> Los resultados muestran que las aguas de producci&#243;n pueden proporcionar  los requerimientos nutricionales requeridos para el desarrollo de los microorganismos  anaerobios.
