Los tratamientos evaluados fueron pastoreo en P. maximum + 1 hora/d en leucaena (T1), T1 + 1 kg concentrado/vaca/d (T2) y T1 + 2 kg concentrado/vaca/d (T3), utilizándose un diseño experimental completamente aleatorizado con ocho repeticiones. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron un efecto significativo (P<0,05) de la suplementación sobre los contenidos de ST, PC y C, mientras que, no existieron efectos (P>0,05) sobre los SNG, G y L. Los mayores contenidos de ST (12,42%), PC (2,98%) y C (2,33%) se obtuvieron cuando las vacas consumieron 1 kg de concentrado. Los valores promedios obtenidos de G, SNG y L fueron 4,12; 8,16 y 4,65%, respectivamente. Se puede concluir de este estudio que la utilización de concentrados comerciales incrementa ciertos componentes químicos de la leche en sistemas doble propósito]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[In northwest of Venezuela, in a tropical dry forest, a trial was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of supplementation with commercial concentrate on fat (F), total solids (TS), not fat solids (SNF), crude protein (CP), casein (C) and lactose (L) contents in milk of dual purpose cows grazing P. maximum and L. leucocephala. The treatments evaluated were grazing in P. maximum + 1 h/d in leucaena (T1), T1 + 1 kg concentrate/cow (T2) and T1 + 2 kg concentrate/cow (T3). The statistical design was a completely randomized with eight replications. The obtained results showed a significant effect (P<0.05) of supplementation on TS, CP and C contents, while, there was not effect (P>0.05) on SNF, F and L. The highest contents of TS (12.42%), CP (2.98%) and C (2.33%) were obtained when the cows fed on 1 kg of concentrate. The mean values of F, SNF and L were 4.12, 8.16 and 4.65%, respectively. En zonas tropicales, la suplementación  con concentrados comerciales en animales a pastoreo es una alternativa  de alimentación empleada principalmente en períodos de escasez de forrajes,  con la finalidad de mejorar la productividad a través del consumo de materia  seca [21]. Los factores que más influyen sobre la calidad de la leche son  la genética y alimentación [28], este último dentro de los factores ambientales  representa alrededor del 45%. La concentración de algunos componentes de  la leche (grasa y proteína), están directamente relacionados con el consumo  de energía, los cuales pueden ser incrementados con la suplementación con  concentrados comerciales o mejorando la calidad del forraje [20]. Hernández  y Ponce [17, 18] refieren que la alimentación de la vaca lechera es el  principal factor, que incide en las concentraciones de los sólidos en la  leche y dentro de ello, el insuficiente contenido de proteína verdadera  que se suministra en la ración. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar la influencia del  concentrado comercial sobre la composición química de la leche en vacas  doble propósito pastoreando <I>Panicum maximum </I>y <I>Leucaena leucocephala.</I> </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><B><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS </FONT></B></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><B><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Ubicación del área experimental </FONT></B> </P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> La fase experimental de la investigación se realizó en la hacienda “Nueva  Venezuela”, ubicada en el municipio Rosario de Perijá, estado Zulia, Venezuela,  geográficamente a 10° 15’ latitud norte y 72° 40’ longitud oeste. La zona  bajo estudio está caracterizada como bosque seco tropical, con precipitaciones  promedio de 1100 mm/año y temperatura media anual de 29°C, a 100 msnm de  altitud [7]. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><B><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Manejo de los animales </FONT></B> </P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Se utilizaron 24 vacas lactantes, las cuáles se agruparon de acuerdo a  producción de leche; número de partos (2 a 10) y días después de la lactancia  (entre 1 y 3 meses). Se realizaron dos ordeños/día, con apoyo del becerro  y amamantamiento restringido. Los animales se mantuvieron bajo pastoreo  con el resto de las vacas en ordeño de la finca, consumiendo pasto guinea  (<I>Panicum maximum</I>). Antes del ordeño de la tarde, los animales se suplementaron  con concentrado comercial de acuerdo al tratamiento y luego del ordeño  de la tarde, los animales entraron durante 1 h/día al banco de <I>L. leucocephala</I>,  cuyas composiciones químicas determinadas en esta investigación, se muestran  en la <a href="#tab1">TABLA I.</a> La duración del ensayo fue de 210 días, tomándose 30 días  de adaptación para el acostumbramiento de los animales al consumo de concentrado  y leucaena y 180 días de evaluación. </FONT></P>      ]]></body>

<body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Los tratamientos evaluados en esta investigación fueron: </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> T<SUB>1</SUB>: Pastoreo en <I>P. maximum</I> + 1 h/día en leucaena </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> T<SUB>2</SUB>: Pastoreo en <I>P. maximum</I> + 1 h/día en leucaena + 1 kg concentrado </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> T<SUB>3</SUB>: Pastoreo en <I>P. maximum</I> + 1 h/día en leucaena + 2 kg concentrado </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> El diseño experimental empleado fue totalmente al azar y 8 repeticiones. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><B><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Variables en estudio </FONT></B> </P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Se recolectaron un total de 192 muestras de leche. Quincenalmente, a cada  animal se le tomó una muestra de leche, la cual se mezcló para homogeneizarla,  y se recolectó una muestra de cada animal de 200 mL para determinar inmediatamente  el grado de acidez titulable. Culminado este procedimiento las muestras  se refrigeraron, previa identificación, se trasladaron a los laboratorios  de Nutrición Animal y Tecnología de la Leche de las Facultades de Agronomía  y Ciencias<I> </I>Veterinarias, de La Universidad del Zulia, para determinar los  contenidos de grasa por el método de Gerber [9], proteína cruda, caseína  y sólidos totales a través de la metodología descrita por la AOAC [1],  mientras que los contenidos de sólidos no grasos y lactosa se determinaron  por diferencia [11]. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><B><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Análisis estadísticos </FONT></B> </P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Se realizó análisis paramétricos a la acidez titulable y lactosa. Los análisis  no paramétricos se utilizaron para analizar sólidos totales, proteína cruda,  caseína, grasa y sólidos no grasos, debido a que las variables no cumplían  con los supuestos del análisis de varianza (normalidad y homogeneidad de  varianza). Para el ajuste de medias de acidez titulable y lactosa se utilizaron  como covariables el número de partos, producción inicial (primer pesaje  de leche después del parto) y los días postparto. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Los datos obtenidos se procesaron a través del paquete estadístico SAS  [27]. Las medias paramétricas se obtuvieron mediante el procedimiento de  Mínimos Cuadrados, utilizándose la prueba de Tukey para la comparación  de las mismas y el test de Kruskal- Wallis para los no paramétricos, con  una probabilidad de la diferencia de 5%. </FONT></P>    ]]></body>

<body><![CDATA[<P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> El contenido de grasa, sólidos no grasos y lactosa no estuvo influenciado  por los diferentes niveles de suplementación, registrándose un promedio  de 4,09; 8,24 y 4,60%, respectivamente. Hess y col. [19] señalaron que  los factores involucrados en la alimentación de vacas muestran poco efecto  sobre la composición de la leche, especialmente en el contenido de grasa.  Estos resultados corroboran los obtenidos por Fernández y col. [13] y Sandoval-Castro  y col. [26], trabajando con <I>Acacia decurrens </I>y <I>L. leucocephala</I>, respectivamente. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Las cantidades de proteína, grasa y lactosa, que son sintetizados en la  glándula mamaria dependen de los sustratos que son suministrados por la  sangre [10]. En esta investigación, la ausencia de respuesta de la lactosa  se debe a que los niveles de glucosa en sangre de los animales para los  diferentes niveles de suplementación fueron similares [23]. Además, la  lactosa es relativamente insensible a los cambios en las dietas de las  vacas, siendo la subnutrición la única condición que altera el porcentaje  de este componente en la leche [14]. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Los mayores valores de acidez titulable en leche, se observaron en los  tratamientos donde se suplementó con leucaena y concentrado, y el menor  valor en aquellos animales que consumieron sólo pasto guinea y leucaena.  Los resultados coinciden con los reportados por Razz y Clavero [22], utilizando  suplementación con concentrado y <I>G</I>. <I>sepium</I>, quienes señalaron disminución  de la acidez cuando los animales recibieron 2 kg de harina de <I>Gliricidia</I>  (19,11 °Dornic) y los más altos valores fueron obtenidos en los tratamientos  de pastoreo en <I>Brachiaria brizantha </I>y <I>Brachiaria</I> + 2 kg de concentrado  (20,34 y 19,26 °Dornic, respectivamente), destacando que la reducción en  el grado de acidez es importante ya que disminuye el deterioro de la leche.  Existen algunos componentes que contribuyen a incrementar los niveles normales  de acidez de la leche, entre ellos mencionaron al dióxido de carbono, proteína,  fosfatos y citratos. Las elevadas concentraciones de estos elementos se  han asociado con los mayores niveles de acidez [16]. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> En esta investigación la suplementación con 1 kg de concentrado registró  los mayores contenidos de sólidos totales, proteína cruda, caseína y minerales,  los cuáles influyen sobre la acidez de la leche. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Los diferentes niveles de suplementación con concentrado afectaron (P&lt;0,05)  los contenidos de sólidos totales en la leche. Se registraron los mayores  valores en aquellos animales que consumieron 1 kg de concentrado con respecto  al control, mientras que el valor más bajo se obtuvo en el tratamiento  de 2 kg de concentrado y leucaena (<a href="#tab2">TABLA II</a>). </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> La respuesta obtenida puede ser atribuible a que el mayor nivel de concentrado  produce mayor cantidad de ácido propiónico, disminuyendo la producción  de los precursores de ácido acético. Asimismo, Grant [15] indicó que los  sólidos totales de la leche están constituidos por grasa, proteína, lactosa  y minerales y cualquier incremento de estos componentes inducen a aumentos  en los sólidos totales. En esta investigación los sólidos totales se correlacionaron  positivamente con los valores de grasa (r<SUP>2</SUP>=0,79), proteína cruda (r<SUP>2</SUP>=0,59)  y caseína (r<SUP>2</SUP>= 0,59) y en el tratamiento donde se suministró 1 kg de concentrado  se obtuvieron los mayores porcentajes de proteína y caseína. Los resultados  obtenidos no coinciden con los reportados por Camero [4], Clavero y col.  [6] y Fernández y col. [13] quienes no observaron diferencias en el contenido  de sólidos en la leche utilizando diferentes leguminosas arbóreas. La ausencia  de respuesta a niveles alto de alimentación pudieran atribuirse a ineficiencia  en la fermentación del rumen con la consecuencia de bajos niveles de proteína  y energía metabolizable relativo al consumo. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> En cuanto a los contenidos de proteína cruda y caseína, los valores más  altos (P&lt;0,05) se obtuvieron en animales que consumieron 1 kg de concentrado.  Los contenidos obtenidos en esta investigación están dentro de los rangos  promedios señalados por Fergunson [12] para ambas variables. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Existen reportes contradictorios del efecto de la dieta sobre los contenidos  de proteína cruda y caseína en la leche. En este sentido, Coulon y col.  [8] señalaron que un incremento de N en la dieta induce simultáneamente  aumentos en el rendimiento de leche y secreción de proteína. Además, el  contenido de proteína también depende de la suplencia de aminoácidos esenciales,  principalmente lisina y metionina y del tipo de suplemento proteico utilizado  en la alimentación de vacas en lactación [11]. Asimismo, Beever y col.  [3] señalaron que cuando existe buena suplencia de nutrientes a través  de la dieta del animal se logran incrementos en la producción de leche  con aumentos en la concentración de proteína en leche. Con respecto a la  caseína, estos autores reportaron que todos los factores que afectan los  valores de proteína influyen de forma directa sobre los contenidos de caseína,  debido a que forma alrededor del 80% del total de la proteína cruda en  leche y en esta investigación se observó una correlación positiva de ambas  variables (r<SUP>2</SUP>=0,99**). </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> Robinson [24] señaló que, tanto el rendimiento como el porcentaje de proteína  en la leche pueden incrementarse con aumentos en la proporción de concentrados  en la dieta y consumo de leguminosas, lo cual está asociado a cambios en  la fermentación ruminal, al incremento de nutrientes digestibles absorbidos  a nivel intestinal y/o al aumento de la proteína bacteriana en el rumen.  Sin embargo, destacó que recientes investigaciones indican que incrementos  en los niveles de concentrado pueden disminuir tanto el rendimiento como  el porcentaje de proteína y estos resultados son atribuibles a la supresión  del crecimiento bacteriano en el rumen asociado con condiciones de acidosis  ruminal. Asimismo, Bargo [2] mencionó que la suplementación con concentrados,  no sólo reduce el pH, sino el NH<SUB>3</SUB>-N en el rumen. Incrementos en la disponibilidad  post ruminal de proteína digestible o aminoácidos estimula la producción  de proteína en la leche en vacas lactantes [5]. </FONT></P>      <P ALIGN="justify" style="word-spacing: 0; line-height: 100%"><FONT COLOR="000000" size="2" face="Verdana"> En estudios realizados por Fernández y col. [13], con diferentes niveles  de <I>Acacia decurrens</I> y concentrado comercial, no observaron diferencias  en el contenido de proteína para los distintos niveles de suplementación,  resultados que atribuyeron a que los distintos tratamientos evaluados no  conllevan a cambios importantes en las proporciones y cantidades de ácidos  grasos volátiles en el rumen. Sin embargo, respuestas contradictorias fueron  reportadas por Roncallo y col. [25] utilizando frutos molidos de <I>Pithecellobium  saman</I>, quienes señalaron una mayor disponibilidad de proteína, carbohidratos  y minerales liberados por la ruptura de la semilla y en consecuencia un  incremento en los contenidos de sólidos totales, grasa y proteína. </FONT></P>      ]]></body>
