El presente estudio tiene como propósito fundamental analizar en qué grado, la imagen que presentan los textos de bachillerato sobre la evolución de los modelos atómicos, concuerda con el enfoque actual de la Historia y la Filosofía de la Ciencia. Para ello se analizaron 27 textos de Química de bachillerato (16 de noveno grado y 11 de primer año de ciencias). Se utilizaron una serie de criterios racionales (Niaz, 1998) que reflejan el enfoque actual de la Filosofía de la Ciencia y que permitieron evaluar, cualitativamente, el enfoque de los textos sobre los modelos atómicos de Thomson, Rutherford y Bohr. Los resultados confirman estudios previos, en los que se observó que los textos analizados resaltan los hechos experimentales y el uso del método científico como la vía más importante para elaborar las teorías científicas. En conclusión, la mayoría de los textos desconocen los aportes de las investigaciones más recientes sobre la enseñanza de las ciencias y utilizan la historia de la ciencia con un enfoque positivista. El estudio tiene importantes implicaciones para la reforma curricular, la elaboración de textos de Química actualizados y el desarrollo de estrategias de enseñanza más significativas para estudiantes y docentes.]]></p></abstract>

This study has as fundamental purpose to analyze to what degree the image that high school texts give on the evolution of atomic models is accurate with the History and Science Philosophy actual view. Seeking that purpose we analyzed 27 Chemistry high school texts. (16, 9th grade and 11 1st grade). A sequence of rational criteria was employed (Niaz, 1998) reflecting the actual approach of Science Philosophy that allowed us to evaluate, qualitatively, the actual focus on the atomic models of Thomson, Rutherford and Bohr. The results confirm previous studies in which the analyzed texts underline the experimental facts and the use of the scientific method as the most important way to elaborate scientific theories. Concluding, most of the texts do not know the most recent research contributions about science teaching and use the History of Science with a positivist view The study has important implications for the curricular reform, the actualized Chemistry texts and the development of teaching strategies much more signgicant to students and teachers.]]></p></abstract>

Concluding, most of the texts do not know the most recent research contributions about science teaching and use the History of Science with a positivist view The study has important implications for the curricular reform, the actualized Chemistry texts and the development of teaching strategies much more signgicant to students and teachers.</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Key words: </B>history and science philosophy; positivism; atomic models; general chemistry texts. </P> <B><FONT FACE="GaramondThree-Bold">    <P align="JUSTIFY">Introducci&oacute;n </P> </B></FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">La filosof&iacute;a positivista ha tenido importantes implicaciones para la elaboraci&oacute;n del </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">curriculum </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">de la ense&ntilde;anza de las ciencias en el mundo y, especialmente para la ense&ntilde;anza de la Qu&iacute;mica (Gallagher, 1991; McComas </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">et a</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">l, 1998). Sin embargo, a mediados del siglo XX la influencia del positivismo en la ense&ntilde;anza comenz&oacute; a ser cuestionada ante la emergencia de nuevas ideas en el campo de la Filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia. Fil&oacute;sofos como Hanson (1958), Kuhn (1970), Lakatos (1970), Popper (1959) y Toulmin (1961) hicieron fuertes cr&iacute;ticas al enfoque positivista de la naturaleza de la ciencia, generando una nueva visi&oacute;n de la Historia de la Ciencia y, por tanto, de su naturaleza. Una de las grandes fallas del positivismo es el supuesto de que el conocimiento existe sin la interacci&oacute;n de un sujeto cognoscente. En otras palabras, el conocimiento existe m&aacute;s all&aacute; del cient&iacute;fico, quien a trav&eacute;s de sus investigaciones objetivas descubre las leyes, teor&iacute;as y principios de la realidad. (Niaz, 1994).</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Para la nueva filosof&iacute;a de la ciencia lo que el cient&iacute;fico observa e investiga es una construcci&oacute;n de la realidad de acuerdo con su formaci&oacute;n, marco te&oacute;rico y valores sociales (Glasersfeld, 1989; Piaget y Garc&iacute;a, 1989). Es decir, en la construcci&oacute;n del conocimiento cient&iacute;fico, las observaciones dependen, en parte, de lo que ha sido la formaci&oacute;n, experiencias y expectativas del observador, por lo tanto, las mismas no pueden ser tan objetivas, debido a que est&aacute;n impregnadas por el marco te&oacute;rico del investigador. Se puede decir que esto representa una perspectiva totalmente distinta del origen del conocimiento cient&iacute;fico, con importantes implicaciones para la ense&ntilde;anza, en la medida que aporta soluciones para la crisis </FONT>contempor&aacute;nea de la ense&ntilde;anza, reflejada en la alarmante cifra de<FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT"> </FONT>analfabetismo cient&iacute;fico (Matthews, 1994). Otro aspecto novedoso que plantea la Nueva Filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia, es la Metodolog&iacute;a de los Programas de Investigaci&oacute;n Cient&iacute;fica (Lakatos, 1970, 1989), la cual concibe el crecimiento de la ciencia en t&eacute;rminos de cambios progresivos y regresivos de problem&aacute;tica para una serie de teor&iacute;as cient&iacute;ficas. Para Lakatos, un programa de investigaci&oacute;n consiste, esencialmente, en un n&uacute;cleo firme, constituido por los postulados fundamentales de la teor&iacute;a. El n&uacute;cleo firme es convencionalmente aceptado como irrefutable por decisi&oacute;n provisoria de los seguidores de la teor&iacute;a. Un programa de investigaci&oacute;n tambi&eacute;n contiene un cintur&oacute;n protector formado por un conjunto de hip&oacute;tesis y teor&iacute;as auxiliares, compatibles con el centro firme, y dos heur&iacute;sticas, o conjunto de reglas metodol&oacute;gicas, cuya funci&oacute;n es indicar qu&eacute; rutas de investigaci&oacute;n deben ser seguidas (heur&iacute;sticas positivas) o evitadas (heur&iacute;sticas negativas).</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Recientes estudios han analizado la forma c&oacute;mo los textos de Qu&iacute;mica General, de cursos b&aacute;sicos universitarios, reflejan la naturaleza de la ciencia y los procesos o eventos hist&oacute;ricos que conducen a la elaboraci&oacute;n del conocimiento cient&iacute;fico. (Chiappetta et al, 1993; Milne, 1998; Niaz, 1998, 2000b, 2001). Las conclusiones de estos trabajos se resumen as&iacute;: la mayor&iacute;a de los textos presentan una interpretaci&oacute;n positivista/inductivista de la evoluci&oacute;n de la Qu&iacute;mica. Esta interpretaci&oacute;n contradice los eventos hist&oacute;ricos, tal como ocurrieron, es decir, la ciencia no se desarroll&oacute; en forma rectil&iacute;nea (acumulaci&oacute;n de conocimiento, comprobado por los datos experimentales), sino a trav&eacute;s de la competencia entre muchos puntos de vista conflictivos que conduc&iacute;an a un aumento del poder heur&iacute;stico/explicativo de las teor&iacute;as.</P> <B>    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P align="JUSTIFY">Objetivo</P> </B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Sobre la base de los antecedentes expuestos anteriormente, esta investigaci&oacute;n tiene como prop&oacute;sito fundamental analizar en qu&eacute; grado la imagen que presentan los textos de bachillerato de la evoluci&oacute;n de los modelos at&oacute;micos concuerda con el enfoque actual de la historia y la filosof&iacute;a de la ciencia. A diferencia de los estudios realizados en a&ntilde;os <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">anteriores con textos universitarios, el </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">corpus </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">de la investigaci&oacute;n estar&aacute; conformado por los textos de bachillerato (Niaz, 1998, 2000a, 2000b, 2001; Rodr&iacute;guez y Niaz, 2001a, 2001b). Por lo que ser&aacute; interesante comparar los resultados de ambos para conocer en qu&eacute; medida el enfoque de los textos de bachillerato sigue la misma tendencia, o no, de los universitarios. </P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Se analizaron 27 textos de Qu&iacute;mica de bachillerato (16 de noveno grado y 11 de primer a&ntilde;o de ciencias), aplicando una serie de criterios (Niaz, 1998), que reflejan el punto de vista de la nueva Filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia, en la evoluci&oacute;n de los modelos at&oacute;micos.</P> </FONT><B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Antecedentes hist&oacute;ricos</P> </B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Para la aplicaci&oacute;n de los criterios que permitan evaluar el tratamiento que se les da a los textos en el &aacute;rea de la evoluci&oacute;n de los modelos at&oacute;micos, es pertinente analizar los hechos hist&oacute;ricos ocurridos en este per&iacute;odo a partir de la literatura sobre el tema. En tal sentido los trabajos de Niaz (1998, 2000a, 2000 b, 2001), constituyen un importante aporte para este tipo de an&aacute;lisis:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Es conveniente sugerir que la evaluaci&oacute;n de los textos basada en los criterios de un esquema (racional) de la historia y filosof&iacute;a de la ciencia puede dotar al docente con ideas de c&oacute;mo se desarrollan los modelos o teor&iacute;as. La ignorancia de tales desarrollos por los textos, puede privar a los estudiantes de una oportunidad para familiarizarse con el progreso y la pr&aacute;ctica cient&iacute;fica. (Niaz, 1998, p. 529).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">La historia de la estructura del &aacute;tomo, desde finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, demuestra que los modelos de J. J. Thomson, E. Rutherford y N. Bohr evolucionaron en r&aacute;pida sucesi&oacute;n y tuvieron que rivalizar con modelos competitivos basados en programas de investigaci&oacute;n rivales (Niaz, 1998). Este per&iacute;odo hist&oacute;rico de la evoluci&oacute;n del conocimiento sobre la estr<FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">uctura del &aacute;tomo ha sido objeto </FONT>de considerables debates y controversias en la literatura de la historia y filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia (Achinstein, 1991; Falconer, 1987; Heilbron, 1985; Heilbron y Kuhn, 1969; Hettema, 1995; Holton, 1986, 1993; Jammer, 1996; Kuhn, 1984; Lakatos, 1970; Popper, 1965).</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Modelo at&oacute;mico de Thomson</P> </B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Hist&oacute;ricamente los rayos cat&oacute;dicos fueron descubiertos por vez primera por Plucker en 1858 (Falconer, 1987), mucho antes de que Thomson llegase a estar interesado en ellos. El punto de vista de este investigador sobre la naturaleza de la electricidad encajaba dentro de la aceptada tradici&oacute;n de la electrodin&aacute;mica de Maxwell. Para Thomson la electricidad era un estado tenso del &eacute;ter y la descarga en los tubos de rayos cat&oacute;dicos era una relajaci&oacute;n de ese estado, con una consecuente disipaci&oacute;n de energ&iacute;a. En el momento en que Thomson realiz&oacute; sus experimentos, estaba consciente de la controversia con respecto a la naturaleza de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos, la cual giraba en torno a la pregunta: ¿Eran part&iacute;culas u ondas en el &eacute;ter? (Achinstein, 1991; Falconer, 1987).</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">La controversia realmente comenz&oacute; en 1879 con el apoyo de Crookes a la teor&iacute;a de part&iacute;culas de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos. La desviaci&oacute;n de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos por un campo electrost&aacute;tico se consider&oacute; una fuerte evidencia a favor de esta teor&iacute;a. De acuerdo con Niaz (1998), los partidarios de la teor&iacute;a del &eacute;ter, Goldstein, Hertz y Weidemann, suministraron evidencias experimentales de que los rayos cat&oacute;dicos no eran desviados por un campo el&eacute;ctrico, describiendo los rayos como una clase de perturbaci&oacute;n et&eacute;rea similar a la luz. De modo que la discusi&oacute;n sobre la naturaleza de los rayos se convierte en el principio heur&iacute;stico que estimula la competencia entre programas de investigaci&oacute;n rivales que chocan en la fase de la evidencia (Burbules y Linn, 1991; Lakatos, 1970; McMullin, 1985; Niaz, 1994).</P>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P align="JUSTIFY">A principios de 1897 Thomson efectu&oacute; una serie de experimentos cuyos resultados fueron publicados extensamente en la revista Philosophical Magazine (Thomson, 1897). Entre los aspectos resaltantes del art&iacute;culo de Thomson est&aacute;n: 1) establece que los experimentos tienen como objetivos, espec&iacute;ficamente, lograr alguna <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">informaci&oacute;n en cuanto a la naturaleza de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos; 2) describe la controversia con respecto a la naturaleza de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos y se muestra inclinado a favor de la teor&iacute;a de part&iacute;culas; 3) explica la raz&oacute;n por la cual Hertz no pudo obtener una desviaci&oacute;n de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos electrost&aacute;ticamente, debido a que &eacute;sta pod&iacute;a ser obtenida solamente cuando el vac&iacute;o era muy bueno, aspecto que no hab&iacute;a sido tomado en cuenta por Hertz; 4) resume las propiedades de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos y se&ntilde;ala un aspecto fundamental de sus experimentos: los rayos cat&oacute;dicos son los mismos, cualquiera que sea el gas a trav&eacute;s del cual las descargas pasan, y concluye:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Cuando los rayos cat&oacute;dicos transportan una carga, son desviados por una fuerza magn&eacute;tica en la misma forma que esta fuerza pudiera actuar sobre un cuerpo electrificado negativamente movi&eacute;ndose a lo largo de la trayectoria de estos rayos, no puedo ver escapatoria a la conclusi&oacute;n de que ellos son cargas de electricidad negativa transportadas por part&iacute;culas de materia... (Thomson, 1897, p.302).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">De acuerdo con Niaz (1998), &eacute;ste es el aspecto m&aacute;s importante del art&iacute;culo de Thomson, y demuestra claramente que &eacute;l visualiz&oacute; que la determinaci&oacute;n de la raz&oacute;n masa/carga (m/e) de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos podr&iacute;a ayudarle a identificarlos como iones o como part&iacute;culas universales con carga. Thomson (1897) report&oacute; en su art&iacute;culo un valor de 10<SUP>-7</SUP> para la raz&oacute;n masa/carga (m/e) de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos, lo que quiz&aacute;s pueda ser considerada la contribuci&oacute;n experimental m&aacute;s importante del art&iacute;culo. Esta postulaci&oacute;n de Thomson es un reflejo de la capacidad creativa de los cient&iacute;ficos, debido a que su autor fue m&aacute;s all&aacute; de la simple presentaci&oacute;n de los resultados experimentales, mediante la especulaci&oacute;n, proposici&oacute;n de hip&oacute;tesis y de un modelo (cf. Niaz, 1994). Aunque otros f&iacute;sicos, partidarios de la teor&iacute;a del &eacute;ter, (Kaufmann, Schuster, y Wiechert), fueron capaces de calcular la raz&oacute;n masa/carga en el mismo a&ntilde;o que Thomson, no tuvieron la capacidad de hacer predicci&oacute;n alguna con los resultados, debido a que manten&iacute;an el enfoque de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos como ondas en el &eacute;ter (Niaz, 1998). Esto demuestra claramente que para la evoluci&oacute;n de la ciencia lo m&aacute;s importante no son los resultados experimentales, tal como lo postula la filosof&iacute;a positivista, sino los principios heur&iacute;sticos o explicativos que le permiten a un programa de investigaci&oacute;n en crecimiento, predecir hechos que son te&oacute;ricamente nuevos y, por tanto, el dise&ntilde;o de los experimentos (Lakatos, 1970; Schwab, 1974).</P> </FONT><B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Modelo at&oacute;mico de Rutherford</P> </B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Antes de comenzar a desarrollar la teor&iacute;a del &aacute;tomo nuclear, Rutherford estaba dedicado al estudio de la radioactividad, especialmente en lo referente a la naturaleza de las part&iacute;culas alfa. Un problema inesperado llam&oacute; la atenci&oacute;n de Rutherford y sus colaboradores: la dispersi&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas alfa, es decir, la desviaci&oacute;n de su propia trayectoria cuando atravesaban la materia. La imaginaci&oacute;n creadora de Rutherford desempe&ntilde;&oacute; un importante papel en la resoluci&oacute;n de un problema aparentemente secundario. Geiger y su joven ayudante Marsden asumieron el reto planteado por Rutherford: ¿por qu&eacute; no analizar si cualquier part&iacute;cula alfa puede ser desviada en un &aacute;ngulo grande? (Goldstein, 1880; Wilson, 1983). Los hallazgos de Geiger y Marsden (1909) fueron extraordinarios: "Una peque&ntilde;a fracci&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas alfa incidentes sobre el metal cambia su direcci&oacute;n en una forma tal que ellas emergen de nuevo en direcci&oacute;n opuesta al lugar de incidencia" (p. 495). Experimentos adicionales confirmaron el conocido fen&oacute;meno de la desviaci&oacute;n de part&iacute;culas alfa, descrito en la mayor&iacute;a de los textos. Rutherford (1911) public&oacute; su hip&oacute;tesis del &aacute;tomo nuclear, por primera vez, en la revista Philosophical Magazine, en mayo de 1911. La controversia con el programa del &aacute;tomo de Thomson se plantea desde el primer momento en el art&iacute;culo:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Ha sido generalmente supuesto que la dispersi&oacute;n de un fino haz de rayos alfa o beta al atravesar una l&aacute;mina delgada de materia se debe a la suma de una multitud de peque&ntilde;as dispersiones por los &aacute;tomos de materia atravesados (p. 669).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Esta cita refleja una clara alusi&oacute;n al trabajo experimental de Crowther, colega de Thomson, cuyos resultados le permitieron a este &uacute;ltimo desarrollar la hip&oacute;tesis de las dispersiones m&uacute;ltiples, como rival para la <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">hip&oacute;tesis de la dispersi&oacute;n simple postulada por Rutherford (Niaz, 1998).</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">El objetivo de Thomson al establecer esta hip&oacute;tesis, para explicar la</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">desviaci&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas alfa en un &aacute;ngulo muy grande, era defender</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">el centro firme de su programa de investigaci&oacute;n del &aacute;tomo, conocido</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">como el "pud&iacute;n con pasas", el cual estaba siendo cuestionado por</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">Rutherford con su hip&oacute;tesis de la dispersi&oacute;n simple:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">La teor&iacute;a de Sir J. J. Thomson est&aacute; basada sobre el supuesto de que la dispersi&oacute;n debida a un choque at&oacute;mico simple es peque&ntilde;a y la estructura particular asumida para el &aacute;tomo no admite una desviaci&oacute;n muy grande de una part&iacute;cula alfa al atravesar un &aacute;tomo sencillo, a menos que sea supuesto que el di&aacute;metro de una esfera de electricidad positiva sea m&iacute;nimo comparado con el di&aacute;metro de influencia del &aacute;tomo. (Rutherford, 1911, p. 670).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">As&iacute;, este autor sienta las bases para su modelo del &aacute;tomo nuclear. Otro aspecto importante de sus experimentos, que llam&oacute; poderosamente su atenci&oacute;n, fue la observaci&oacute;n de que solamente una de veinte mil part&iacute;culas alfa se desv&iacute;a en un &aacute;ngulo grande (Rutherford, 1911). &Eacute;l, como estudioso de la teor&iacute;a de las probabilidades, utiliz&oacute; la misma para demostrar que a) la posibilidad de que una part&iacute;cula alfa sea desviada en un &aacute;ngulo grande era infinitamente peque&ntilde;a, con lo cual cuestionaba la teor&iacute;a de las m&uacute;ltiples dispersiones, sostenida por Thomson para apuntalar su modelo del &aacute;tomo; y b) la probabilidad de que una part&iacute;cula alfa experimentara una segunda desviaci&oacute;n era sumamente peque&ntilde;a. &Eacute;stas fueron las razones precisas por las cuales Rutherford y colaboradores creyeron que la hip&oacute;tesis de la dispersi&oacute;n simple y su modelo del &aacute;tomo con un "campo el&eacute;ctrico intenso" eran convincentes.</P> </FONT><B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Modelo at&oacute;mico de Bohr</P> </B>    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P align="JUSTIFY">Bohr arrib&oacute; a Manchester en marzo de 1912 y luego de realizar algunos experimentos sobre radioactividad sugeridos por Rutherford, comenz&oacute; a trabajar en un proyecto para cuantizar su modelo del &aacute;tomo. En julio de 1912 present&oacute; a la consideraci&oacute;n de este investigador un primer proyecto sobre la constituci&oacute;n de &aacute;tomos y mol&eacute;culas. Para marzo de <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">1913 Bohr lo someti&oacute; nuevamente a la consideraci&oacute;n de Rutherford, despu&eacute;s de lo cual fue publicado en la revista </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">Philosophical Magazine </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">en julio de 1913. Los aspectos m&aacute;s importantes del art&iacute;culo son: 1) explica los experimentos de Rutherford con part&iacute;culas alfa y su teor&iacute;a de la estructura del &aacute;tomo; 2) describe la estabilidad parad&oacute;jica que presenta el modelo de Rutherford y, aprovecha la oportunidad para descartar el modelo de Thomson: </P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">En un intento por explicar alguna de las propiedades de la materia basado en este modelo, nos encontramos, sin embargo, con dificultades de una naturaleza seria,</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">provenientes de la aparente inestabilidad del sistema de</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">electrones: dificultades expresamente evitadas en</FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">modelos del &aacute;tomo previamente considerados, por ejemplo, en uno propuesto por Sir J. J. Thomson (Bohr, 1913, p.2).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Para Bohr (1913), la principal diferencia entre los modelos de Rutherford y de Thomson, est&aacute; en que el segundo permite a los electrones determinadas configuraciones y movimientos, para los cuales el sistema mantiene un equilibrio estable, lo cual aparentemente no existe para el modelo de Rutherford. 4) Bohr formula su postulado:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">El resultado de la discusi&oacute;n de estas cuestiones parece ser un reconocimiento general de lo inadecuado de la electrodin&aacute;mica cl&aacute;sica para describir la conducta de sistemas de tama&ntilde;o at&oacute;mico... parece necesario introducir en las leyes en cuesti&oacute;n una cantidad extra&ntilde;a a la electrodin&aacute;mica cl&aacute;sica, es decir, la constante de Planck, o los cuantos elementales de acci&oacute;n como frecuentemente se llama. (Bohr, 1913, p. 2).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">La importancia relativa de la explicaci&oacute;n de la estabilidad parad&oacute;jica del modelo de Rutherford y de los espectros, ha sido objeto de considerable investigaci&oacute;n y controversia. De acuerdo con Niaz (1998):</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">...la interpretaci&oacute;n del modelo del &aacute;tomo de Bohr por los fil&oacute;sofos de la ciencia es muy instructiva para los docentes de ciencia. El principal objetivo de Bohr era explicar la estabilidad parad&oacute;jica del &aacute;tomo de Rutherford, sin embargo, la mayor&iacute;a de los textos considera que la principal contribuci&oacute;n de Bohr es la explicaci&oacute;n de las series de Balmer y de Paschen de la l&iacute;nea espectral del Hidr&oacute;geno. (p. 539)</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Lakatos (1970), suministra evidencia para apoyar este aspecto del modelo de Bohr: "....el problema de Bohr no era explicar las series de Balmer y Paschen, sino explicar la estabilidad parad&oacute;jica del &aacute;tomo de Rutherford. M&aacute;s a&uacute;n, Bohr todav&iacute;a no hab&iacute;a o&iacute;do de estas f&oacute;rmulas antes de escribir su primera versi&oacute;n de este art&iacute;culo" (p. 147).</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Uno de los aspectos m&aacute;s pol&eacute;micos del modelo del &aacute;tomo de Bohr es la presencia de un profundo vac&iacute;o filos&oacute;fico. En los estados estacionarios, el &aacute;tomo obedece las leyes cl&aacute;sicas de la mec&aacute;nica Newtoniana, por otro lado, cuando el &aacute;tomo emite radiaci&oacute;n, exhibe conducta discontinua (cuanto), de acuerdo con la primera ley propuesta por Planck en 1900 (Niaz, 1998). Rutherford fue el primero en hacerle esta observaci&oacute;n a Bohr, en carta escrita en marzo de 1913:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">....La mezcla de las ideas de Planck con la mec&aacute;nica vieja hace muy dif&iacute;cil formar una idea f&iacute;sica de cu&aacute;l es la base de todo esto.... ¿c&oacute;mo decide el electr&oacute;n a qu&eacute; frecuencia va a vibrar cuando pasa de un estado estacionario a otro? (reproducido por Holton, 1993, p. 80)</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">En l&iacute;neas generales, el art&iacute;culo de Bohr de 1913 tuvo una recepci&oacute;n bastante adversa en la comunidad cient&iacute;fica de su &eacute;poca, especialmente por Thomson quien objet&oacute; la concepci&oacute;n del &aacute;tomo de Bohr en la mayor&iacute;a de sus escritos desde 1913 hasta 1936 (Holton, 1986, 1993). ¿Cu&aacute;l fue la falla de Bohr? En su intento por explicar la estabilidad parad&oacute;jica del &aacute;tomo de Rutherford, injert&oacute; los principios de la mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica (un programa nuevo) en la mec&aacute;nica cl&aacute;sica newtoniana (un programa viejo), lo cual no fue comprendido por sus contempor&aacute;neos (Holton, 1986, 1993). Lakatos ha demostrado que la metodolog&iacute;a de Bohr ha sido usada por otros cient&iacute;ficos en el pasado y, por lo tanto, es perfectamente v&aacute;lida para el avance de la ciencia (Blanco y Niaz, 1998).</P> </FONT><B>    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<P align="JUSTIFY">Criterios para evaluar los textos de Qu&iacute;mica de Bachillerato</P> </B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Los criterios utilizados en este esta investigaci&oacute;n fueron tomados, con ligeras modificaciones, de un trabajo previo realizado por Niaz (1998). La aplicaci&oacute;n de los criterios permiti&oacute; la obtenci&oacute;n de datos cualitativos para diagnosticar el enfoque de los textos con respecto a la evoluci&oacute;n de los modelos at&oacute;micos y elaborar las conclusiones del trabajo.</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Thomson 1 (T<SUB>1</SUB>)</B>: los rayos cat&oacute;dicos son part&iacute;culas cargadas u ondas en el &eacute;ter. El texto debe explicar que los experimentos de Thomson ten&iacute;an como finalidad resolver la controversia relacionada con la naturaleza de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos, pues son part&iacute;culas cargadas (&aacute;tomos, iones, mol&eacute;culas) u ondas en el &eacute;ter. Este criterio permite visualizar la investigaci&oacute;n cient&iacute;fica como la competencia entre programas rivales (Achinstein, 1991; Falconer, 1987; Lakatos, 1970; Thomson, 1897).</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Thomson 2 (T<SUB>2</SUB>)</B>: la determinaci&oacute;n de la raz&oacute;n masa/carga (m/e) para decidir si los rayos cat&oacute;dicos eran iones o part&iacute;culas universalmente cargadas. El texto debe explicar que Thomson decide medir la relaci&oacute;n masa/carga para identificar los rayos cat&oacute;dicos como iones (raz&oacute;n no constante) o como part&iacute;culas universalmente cargadas (raz&oacute;n constante), las que posteriormente denomin&oacute; electrones (Achinstein, 1991; Niaz, 1994; Thomson, 1897).</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Rutherford 1 (R<SUB>1</B></SUB>): el &aacute;tomo nuclear. El texto debe explicar que los experimentos de Rutherford con part&iacute;culas alfa y el modelo resultante tuvieron que competir con un programa rival, espec&iacute;ficamente el modelo del &aacute;tomo de Thomson, mencionado por los textos como "el pud&iacute;n con pasas" o "uvas en gelatina" (Rutherford, 1911).</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Rutherford 2 (R<SUB>2</SUB>)</B>: la probabilidad de grandes desviaciones es excesivamente peque&ntilde;a cuando el &aacute;tomo es el centro de un campo el&eacute;ctrico intenso. El texto debe explicar que el argumento crucial que confirm&oacute; el apoyo al modelo de Rutherford no fue el gran &aacute;ngulo de <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">desviaci&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas alfa (un importante hallazgo), sino m&aacute;s bien, el conocimiento de que &uacute;nicamente, 1 de 20.000 part&iacute;culas se desviaron en &aacute;ngulos grandes (Herron, 1977; Millikan, 1947; Rutherford, 1911). </P> </FONT><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">Rutherford 3 (R<SUB>3</SUB>)</B></FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">: </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">desviaci&oacute;n de part&iacute;culas alfa debido a dispersiones simple</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">s. El texto debe explicar que el objetivo de Thomson</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">al postular su hip&oacute;tesis de las dispersiones m&uacute;ltiples (multitud de</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">peque&ntilde;as dispersiones que al sumarse hac&iacute;an una gran desviaci&oacute;n), era</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">mantener y defender su modelo del &aacute;tomo y explicar las grandes</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">desviaciones de las part&iacute;culas alfa. <body><![CDATA[</UL>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Para validar la aplicaci&oacute;n de los criterios, los tres investigadores analizaron todos los textos de noveno grado y de primer a&ntilde;o de ciencias:</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Textos de noveno grado: en el criterio Thomson 1 (T<SUB>1</SUB>), de 13 textos que tratan el tema, hubo discrepancias en uno de ellos. En el criterio Thomson 2 (T<SUB>2</SUB>), de los mismos 13 textos hubo dos discrepancias. En el criterio Rutherford 1 (R<SUB>1</SUB>), coincidieron todos los textos. En el criterio Rutherford 2 (R<SUB>2</SUB>), de los 16 textos analizados hubo discrepancia en un texto. En el criterio Rutherford 3 (R<SUB>3</SUB>), hubo coincidencia en todos los textos. En el criterio Bohr 1 (B<SUB>1</SUB>) hubo discrepancia en un texto. En los criterios Bohr 2 (B<SUB>2</SUB>) y Bohr 3 (B<SUB>3</SUB>), hubo coincidencia en todos los textos.</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Textos de primer a&ntilde;o de ciencias: en los criterios Thomson 1 (T<SUB>1</SUB>), Thomson 2 (T<SUB>2</SUB>) y Rutherford 1 (R<SUB>1</SUB>) hubo una discrepancia en cada uno de ellos. En el criterio Rutherford 2 (R<SUB>2</SUB>), de los 11 textos evaluados hubo cinco discrepancias. En el criterio Rutherford 3 (R<SUB>3</SUB>), hubo coincidencia total. En el criterio Bohr 1 (B<SUB>1</SUB>), hubo cuatro discrepancias.</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">En el criterio Bohr 2 (B<SUB>2</SUB>), hubo coincidencia en los once libros. En el criterio Bohr 3 (B<SUB>3</SUB>) hubo una discrepancia. Todas las discrepancias fueron resueltas a trav&eacute;s de la discusi&oacute;n.</P> </FONT><B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">An&aacute;lisis de los textos y discusi&oacute;n de resultados Criterio Thomson 1 (T<SUB>1</B></SUB>): &eacute;ste plantea la controversia sobre la<B> </B>naturaleza de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos: ¿eran part&iacute;culas con carga el&eacute;ctrica o<B> </B>eran ondas en el &eacute;ter? La <a HREF="#TABLA_1">tabla 1</a> muestra que ning&uacute;n texto de qu&iacute;mica<B> </B>de noveno grado describe satisfactoriamente (S) o hace menci&oacute;n (M) de<B> </B>los aspectos de este criterio (T<SUB>1</SUB>). <body><![CDATA[<P align="JUSTIFY">&nbsp;</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">A continuaci&oacute;n se transcribe la cita de Ardila et al (1973) como ejemplo de una descripci&oacute;n satisfactoria (S) del criterio Thomson 1 (T<SUB>1</SUB>):</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Hab&iacute;a dos teor&iacute;as al respecto, cada una de las cuales ten&iacute;a poderosos defensores. Thomson cre&iacute;a que los rayos cat&oacute;dicos eran part&iacute;culas electrizadas. El punto de vista opuesto sosten&iacute;a que los rayos cat&oacute;dicos y las part&iacute;culas electrizadas eran cosas distintas. Aunque los rayos cat&oacute;dicos produc&iacute;an luminiscencia al chocar contra el vidrio, era imposible ver los electrones. El dispositivo que Thomson utiliz&oacute; consist&iacute;a en un tubo de vac&iacute;o. En su interior se encontraban los electrodos: el c&aacute;todo, o electrodo negativo en uno de los extremos y el &aacute;nodo construido en forma de anillo en la mitad. Los rayos cat&oacute;dicos que parten del electrodo negativo atraviesan el &aacute;nodo (electrodo positivo) y chocan con la pared opuesta produciendo una zona de fosforescencia. Acercando un im&aacute;n se produjo una desviaci&oacute;n en la zona luminiscente. La teor&iacute;a estaba comprobada: los rayos se desviaban. Luego movi&oacute; el im&aacute;n de manera que los rayos penetraran en una ranura practicada en el blindaje. El electroscopio conectado con el electrodo que recib&iacute;a los rayos se&ntilde;al&oacute; corriente: los rayos cat&oacute;dicos eran <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">realmente electricidad negativa. Los adversarios no se dieron por vencidos. Estaba bien que los rayos cat&oacute;dicos eran desviados por un im&aacute;n; pero no suced&iacute;a lo mismo cuando se los somet&iacute;a a la acci&oacute;n de un campo electrost&aacute;tico.... Enrique Hertz hab&iacute;a tratado de desviar el rayo por medios electrost&aacute;ticos pero no lo consigui&oacute;. Cab&iacute;a una explicaci&oacute;n: tal vez el vac&iacute;o no era lo bastante grande y en el interior del tubo quedaba gas en cantidad suficiente como para permitir el paso de corriente entre las placas. Esto perturbar&iacute;a el campo electrost&aacute;tico. Era necesario vaciar el tubo a&uacute;n m&aacute;s y probar nuevamente. Esta vez el rayo cat&oacute;dico se desvi&oacute;. Thomson hab&iacute;a demostrado que los rayos cat&oacute;dicos son desviados tanto por campos magn&eacute;ticos como por los campos el&eacute;ctricos. Esto solo pod&iacute;a significar una cosa: el rayo cat&oacute;dico no es un rayo, sino un haz de part&iacute;culas cargadas el&eacute;ctricamente (pp. 17-18).</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Esta cita es una buena ilustraci&oacute;n de c&oacute;mo los textos de bachillerato pueden abordar algunos elementos de la historia y filosof&iacute;a de la ciencia de una manera sencilla. Sin embargo, en general, los resultados obtenidos, confirman los encontrados en un estudio anterior (Niaz, 1998). Nuevamente, la mayor&iacute;a de los textos se dedican a resaltar los hechos experimentales con una gran cantidad de ilustraciones y "ret&oacute;rica de conclusiones" (Schwab, 1974), sobre las propiedades de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos y otras part&iacute;culas subat&oacute;micas.</P> </FONT><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">Criterio Thomson 2 (T<SUB>2</B></SUB></FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">): la</FONT><A HREF="#TABLA 1"><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT"> </FONT></A><a HREF="#TABLA_1"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">tabla 1</B></FONT></B></a><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT"> </B></FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">muestra que, trece de los 16 textos de noveno grado ni siquiera mencionan (N) que el objetivo de Thomson, al dise&ntilde;ar sus experimentos para medir la relaci&oacute;n carga/masa de los rayos cat&oacute;dicos, era identificarlos como iones o como part&iacute;culas, universalmente cargadas, a las que posteriormente denomin&oacute; electrones. Tres textos no tratan el tema. En la </FONT><a HREF="#TABLA_2"><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">tabla 2</FONT></a><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">, se observa que ninguno de los 11 textos de primer a&ntilde;o, hace una descripci&oacute;n satisfactoria (S) del criterio Thomson 2 (T<SUB>2</SUB>) y s&oacute;lo dos hacen menci&oacute;n (M) del mismo.</P> </FONT><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">Criterio Rutherford 1 (R<SUB>1</B></SUB></FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">): en las </FONT><a HREF="#TABLA_1"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">tablas 1</B></FONT></B></a><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT"> y </B></FONT> <a HREF="#TABLA_2"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">2</B></FONT></B></a><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT"> </B></FONT> <FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">se observa que ninguno de los 27 textos de la muestra menciona (N) los aspectos hist&oacute;ricos contemplados en el criterio Rutherford 1 (R<SUB>1</SUB>). Esto es, los experimentos de Rutherford con part&iacute;culas alfa y el modelo nuclear resultante tuvieron que competir con un modelo rival, espec&iacute;ficamente, el modelo de Thomson. Los textos no enfatizan cu&aacute;l fue la observaci&oacute;n crucial que le permiti&oacute; a Rutherford postular la existencia del n&uacute;cleo. La siguiente cita, tomada de Caballero y Ramos (1997), es un ejemplo de menci&oacute;n (M): </P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">En 1909, Rutherford en colaboraci&oacute;n con H. Geiger y E. Marsden realiz&oacute; experiencias sobre la desviaci&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas </FONT><FONT FACE=Symbol>a </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">al atravesar l&aacute;minas met&aacute;licas muy delgadas….Como se esperaba, casi todas las part&iacute;culas pasaron a trav&eacute;s del metal sin desviarse de su trayectoria original, aunque sorprendentemente hab&iacute;a una fracci&oacute;n de las part&iacute;culas que se desviaba en forma considerable, pero m&aacute;s extraordinario era que una fracci&oacute;n muy peque&ntilde;a invert&iacute;a por completo su direcci&oacute;n... Para explicar estos resultados, Rutherford supuso en el a&ntilde;o 1911 que el &aacute;tomo deb&iacute;a ser en su mayor parte espacio vac&iacute;o, con lo cual explicaba el paso de las part&iacute;culas alfa a trav&eacute;s del metal siguiendo una trayectoria recta. Cuatro textos hacen menci&oacute;n (M) y siete textos ni siquiera mencionan (N) los aspectos del criterio. Los textos que mencionan (M) el criterio, explican que Bohr acept&oacute; y modific&oacute; el modelo nuclear propuesto por Rutherford, al introducir los postulados de la mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica, pero no explican que lo hac&iacute;a con la finalidad de cuantizar el &aacute;tomo nuclear y as&iacute; establecer su propio modelo. Los textos sin menci&oacute;n (N) contradicen los eventos hist&oacute;ricos, se&ntilde;alados por el criterio, al reflejar el enfoque positivista seg&uacute;n el cual Bohr postul&oacute; su modelo para explicar la serie espectral de Balmer y Paschen para el &aacute;tomo de Hidr&oacute;geno.</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">El siguiente, es un ejemplo en el que se menciona (M) el criterio Bohr 1 (B<SUB>1</SUB>) en uno de los textos de noveno grado:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">Una pregunta curiosa que quiz&aacute;s ya te has hecho es: ¿por qu&eacute; si los electrones y protones tienen cargas el&eacute;ctricas opuestas no se atraen entre s&iacute; de modo que los electrones terminen precipit&aacute;ndose sobre el n&uacute;cleo at&oacute;mico? Ser&iacute;a imposible mantener la estabilidad del &aacute;tomo y, por ende, la de la materia si los electrones se precipitaran sobre el n&uacute;cleo. No obstante, esta pregunta se la hicieron tambi&eacute;n muchos cient&iacute;ficos, pero el modelo de Rutherford no pudo responderla… Los cient&iacute;ficos conoc&iacute;an que una part&iacute;cula con carga el&eacute;ctrica como el electr&oacute;n pierde energ&iacute;a al girar. Esto, por supuesto, causar&iacute;a que el electr&oacute;n se precipitara sobre el n&uacute;cleo y lo destruyera. Pero dado que los &aacute;tomos no colapsan de esta forma, Niels Bohr propuso en 1913 su teor&iacute;a como una respuesta plausible que explica la estabilidad del &aacute;tomo… Bohr sugiri&oacute; que los electrones al moverse dentro de una misma &oacute;rbita no perd&iacute;an ni ganaban energ&iacute;a, por lo cual no colapsaban hacia el n&uacute;cleo. (Flores, 1997, p. 153).</P></DIR> </DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">El siguiente es un ejemplo de menci&oacute;n (M), del criterio Bohr 1 (B<SUB>1</SUB>), de uno de los textos de primer a&ntilde;o de ciencias:</P><DIR> <DIR>      <P align="JUSTIFY">En 1913 Niels Bohr present&oacute; una teor&iacute;a para la estructura del &aacute;tomo de hidr&oacute;geno que aport&oacute; mucho a nuestras ideas, en cuanto a lo que se refiere al comportamiento de los electrones en los &aacute;tomos… Bohr bas&oacute; su enfoque en el &aacute;tomo nuclear de Rutherford y en la teor&iacute;a de los cuantos de Planck, de que los &aacute;tomos y otras part&iacute;culas peque&ntilde;as s&oacute;lo pueden poseer ciertas cantidades de energ&iacute;a definidas… La teor&iacute;a de Bohr establece lo siguiente: </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">[Los</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">autores presentan una explicaci&oacute;n sencilla de los</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT"> </FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT">postulados de la teor&iacute;a at&oacute;mica de Boh</FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">r]… El modelo at&oacute;mico de Bohr pudo explicar la discontinuidad de los espectros de los elementos, debido a que acepta la emisi&oacute;n de energ&iacute;a por lo &aacute;tomos en porciones discretas o limitadas, llamadas cuantos de energ&iacute;a o fotones (Caballero y Ramos, 1997, p. 136).</P></DIR> </DIR>  </FONT><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">Criterios Bohr 2 (B<SUB>2</SUB>) y Bohr 3 (B<SUB>3</SUB></FONT><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">)</FONT></B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">: de acuerdo con las : de acuerdo con las </FONT><a HREF="#TABLA_1"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT">tablas 1</B></FONT></B></a><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT"> y</B></FONT><A HREF="#TABLA 2"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT"> </B></FONT> </B></A><a HREF="#TABLA_2"><B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">2</B></FONT></B></a><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">, ninguno de los 27 textos de Qu&iacute;mica analizados da una explicaci&oacute;n satisfactoria (S) o hace menci&oacute;n de los aspectos contemplados en los criterios Bohr 2 (B<SUB>2</SUB>) y Bohr 3 (B<SUB>3</SUB>). Dado el enfoque positivista que prevalece en la mayor&iacute;a de los textos, estos resultados no sorprenden. Por ejemplo, para el criterio Bohr 2 (B<SUB>2</SUB>), algunos de los textos se&ntilde;alan que &eacute;ste mejor&oacute; el modelo de Rutherford al introducir los principios de la mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica para explicar el movimiento de los electrones en &oacute;rbitas fijas y las transiciones entre niveles, pero no </FONT>se&ntilde;alan de forma expl&iacute;cita que &eacute;sta fue la contribuci&oacute;n fundamental de Bohr.</P> <B>    <P align="JUSTIFY">Conclusiones</P> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">    <P align="JUSTIFY">En l&iacute;neas generales, los textos analizados mantienen un enfoque</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">positivista de la evoluci&oacute;n del conocimiento cient&iacute;fico sobre los</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">modelos at&oacute;micos, el cual no concuerda con el enfoque actual de la</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">Filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia. Es decir, con pocas excepciones, los autores de</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">los textos resaltan los hechos experimentales y el uso del m&eacute;todo</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">cient&iacute;fico como la &uacute;nica v&iacute;a para elaborar conocimiento cient&iacute;fico</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">v&aacute;lido, generando una visi&oacute;n de la ciencia como un proceso</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">acumulativo (la dicotom&iacute;a ley-teor&iacute;a.) Otra evidencia es la abundancia</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">de dibujos esquem&aacute;ticos de experimentos, gr&aacute;ficos y f&oacute;rmulas</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">matem&aacute;ticas que ilustran los textos. Se puede decir que, aun</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">conociendo el enfoque de la nueva Filosof&iacute;a de la Ciencia, los autores</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">de textos mantienen el n&uacute;cleo firme de sus creencias o teor&iacute;as. </P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">En el caso del modelo at&oacute;mico de Bohr (criterios B<SUB>1</SUB>, B<SUB>2</SUB>, B<SUB>3</SUB>) los libros, en general, presentan la secuencia: datos experimentales sobre espectros de los elementos? Ley de Balmer? Teor&iacute;a de Bohr. De</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">acuerdo a Lakatos (1970), esta secuencia representa un ascenso</FONT><B> </B><FONT FACE="TimesNewRomanPSMT">inductivo Baconiano (Blanco y Niaz, 1997) y es utilizado frecuentemente por los historiadores de visi&oacute;n positivista. Este episodio es ilustrativo de que muchas veces las teor&iacute;as se construyen de una manera inconsistente/contradictoria. Los hechos hist&oacute;ricos muestran que Bohr al comenzar su trabajo no ten&iacute;a conocimiento de la ley de Balmer y por lo tanto no pod&iacute;a contribuir a esta secuencia inductiva.</P>     <P align="JUSTIFY">Finalmente se puede concluir que la incorporaci&oacute;n de la historia y filosof&iacute;a de la ciencia, no s&oacute;lo presenta los hechos hist&oacute;ricos de una manera m&aacute;s fidedigna, sino que estimula la curiosidad, inter&eacute;s y motivaci&oacute;n de los estudiantes. Sin embargo, los textos presentan la evoluci&oacute;n de los modelos at&oacute;micos, a partir de los datos experimentales puros (inductivismo), obviando, de acuerdo con la historia de la ciencia, los principios heur&iacute;sticos y la competencia entre programas rivales que impulsaron la postulaci&oacute;n de estos modelos.</P> </FONT><B>    ]]></body>
