Se emplearon 32 lechones del cruce comercial Blanco Belga x Duroc x Pietrain de 10.82 ± 0.77 kg de peso, los cuales se distribuyeron de acuerdo con un diseño completamente aleatorizado en cuatro tratamientos: Control; 0.01; 0.05 y 0.1% de suplementación dietética de una mezcla 50:50 (p/p) de aceite esencial de jengibre y cúrcuma. La suplementación dietética con la mezcla de aceite esencial en los niveles establecidos ocasionó un efecto positivo sobre el consumo, ganancia de peso, conversión alimentaria y peso final de los animales. En conclusión, la suplementación dietética con 0.1% de la mezcla de aceite esencial de jengibre y cúrcuma podría mejorar los índices productivos en lechones posdestete, con superior efecto que los antibióticos y promotores de crecimiento sintéticos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The extraction, characterization and evaluation of essential oils of ginger (Zingiber officinale) and turmeric (Curcuma longa) on the productive performance of post-weaning piglets was carried out. Thirty-two piglets of the commercial cross Belgian White x Duroc x Pietrain of 10.82 ± 0.77 kg were used, which were distributed according to a completely randomized design in four treatments: Control; 0.01; 0.05 and 0.1% dietary supplementation of a 50:50 (w/w) blend of ginger and turmeric essential oil. The dietary supplementation with the essential oil mixture at the established levels caused a positive effect on the intake, weight gain, feed conversion and final weight of the animals. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with 0.1% of the essential oil mixture of ginger and turmeric could improve the productive indices in post-weaning piglets, with a greater effect than antibiotics and synthetic growth promoters.]]></p></abstract>
