Métodos:  Estudio prospectivo, longitudinal, de intervención, descriptivo y analítico, realizado en el Hospital Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño&#8221; del Instituto Venezolano de los Seguros Sociales (IVSS). La población de estudio incluyó a todas las pacientes obstétricas que ingresaron al hospital entre 2018 y 2023, con edad gestacional mayor a 20 semanas, cuya resolución obstétrica fue por parto o cesárea y que presentaron hemorragia posparto. El programa de intervención consistió en: educación en simulación y paquetes de intervención y protocolos de actuación.  Resultados:  Los resultados demuestran una reducción significativa de las muertes maternas directas tras la implementación de estas intervenciones. Particularmente, las muertes por hemorragia posparto, la principal causa de mortalidad materna, disminuyeron de 17 casos en 2018 a solo 1 en 2024, sin registrarse casos entre 2020 y 2023. Esta reducción representa un descenso interanual del 94,11 % en la mortalidad por hemorragia posparto.  Conclusión:  La implementación de paquetes de intervención y programas de entrenamiento en emergencias obstétricas es fundamental para reducir la mortalidad materna, especialmente en contextos de alta complejidad. Los hallazgos confirman l a e ficacia de los protocolos de intervención y la capacitación continua en la mejora de los resultados maternos, subrayando la relevancia de estos enfoques en la prevención de la mortalidad materna en hospitales de alta demanda obstétrica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[SUMMARY Objective: To assess the effectiveness of an education program including simulation training, checklists and shared mind mapping protocols, implemented between 2018 and 2024, in reducing maternal mortality from postpartum hemorrhage.  Methods:  Prospective, longitudinal, interventional, descriptive and analytical study, carried out at the Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital of the Venezuelan Institute of Social Security (IVSS). The study population included all obstetric patients who were admitted to the hospital between 2018 and 2023, with gestational age greater than 20 weeks, whose obstetric resolution was by delivery or cesarean section and who presented postpartum hemorrhage. The intervention program consisted of simulation education and intervention packages and action protocols.  Results:  The results demonstrate a significant reduction in direct maternal deaths following the implementation of these interventions. In particular, deaths from postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of maternal mortality, decreased from 17 cases in 2018 to just one in 2024, with no cases recorded between 2020 and 2023. This reduction represents a year-on-year decrease of 94.11% in mortality from postpartum hemorrhage.  Conclusion:  The implementation of intervention packages and training programs in obstetric emergencies is essential to reduce maternal mortality, especially in highly complex contexts. The findings confirm the efficacy of intervention protocols and continuous training in improving maternal outcomes, highlighting the relevance of these approaches in the prevention of maternal mortality in hospitals with high obstetric demand.]]></p></abstract>
