Aunque su incidencia es menor que la de otros cánceres de piel, la falta de conciencia sobre los factores de riesgo y la exposición solar sin protección siguen siendo problemas frecuentes. Objetivo: Determinar la presencia de cáncer de piel tipo melanoma mediante pesquisa clínica y dermatoscópica.  Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal en 378 personas que participaron voluntariamente en jornadas organizadas por el Centro Clínico Dermatológico SP entre 2023 y 2025. Se recopilaron datos demográficos, antecedentes, hábitos de fotoprotección y características clínicas de las lesiones, evaluadas clínica y dermatoscópicamente. Los resultados se analizaron con STATA 17.  Resultados:  Predominó la participación femenina (75,4 %) y los fototipos III y IV. Aunque el 56,6 % conocía el melanoma, la mayoría no usaba protector solar y tuvo exposición solar desprotegida en la infancia. Se identificaron 6 (1,6 %) casos presuntivos de melanoma y 1 (0,3 %) de melanoniquia. Solo un caso de los seis con diagnóstico presuntivo de melanoma pudo ser confirmado posterior a la campaña, vía telefónica.  Conclusiones:  La pesquisa permitió detectar factores de riesgo y casos iniciales, destacando la importancia de fortalecer la educación sanitaria y las estrategias preventivas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  Cutaneous melanoma is one of the most aggressive neoplasms due to its high metastatic potential and associated mortality; therefore, early diagnosis is essential to improve prognosis. Although its incidence is lower than that of other skin cancers, the lack of awareness about risk factors and unprotected sun exposure remain frequent issues.Objective: To determine the presence of melanoma-type skin cancer through clinical and dermatoscopic screening.  Methods:  study was conducted among 378 volunteers who participated in screening campaigns organized by the SP Clinical Dermatology Center between 2023 and 2025. Demographic data, medical history, photoprotection habits, and clinical characteristics of lesions were collected and assessed both clinically and dermatoscopically. Results were analyzed using STATA 17.  Results:  Female participation predominated (75.4 %), with a high proportion of phototypes III and IV. Although 56.6 % knew what melanoma was, most did not use sunscreen and reported unprotected sun exposure during childhood. Six (1.6 %) presumptive melanoma cases and one (0.3 %) melanonychia case were identified.  Conclusions:  The screening enabled the detection of risk factors and early cases, highlighting the importance of strengthening health education and preventive strategies.]]></p></abstract>
