INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and editorial policy

Revista Tecnológica-Educativa Docentes 2.0 (RTED) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal aimed at elevating the profile of technological-educational-scientific research internationally. RTED's mission is to make research freely available with immediate open access to the public worldwide, ensuring a global exchange of knowledge, fostering good practices, the development of new policies, and the advancement of scientific communities.

RTED enjoys an international reputation for publishing original academic articles and essays. Drawing from a diverse global community of scholars, editors publish and promote discourse internationally in the areas of: social sciences, education, and technology: Learning and knowledge technologies, innovative learning spaces, flipped classroom, gamification, competency-based learning, active learning, challenge-based learning, constructive learning assessment, open access (practices, resources, repositories), mobile learning, and others in the Technological-Educational area.

RTED does not publish in the areas of Medical Sciences and Humanities (except when articles in those areas have clear applicability to the core areas of technology and education).

RTED only considers research articles, literature review articles, and pedagogical essays. It does not accept hypothesis papers, commentaries, opinion articles, case studies, case reports, among others.

Articles published in RTED meet a selection criterion that includes originality, relevance, multidisciplinary interest, timeliness, accessibility, distinction, and study conclusions. RTED evaluates articles based solely on an objective determination of scientific and methodological soundness, not on subjective determinations of "impact," "novelty," or "interest".

RTED applies the highest standards in everything it does; specifically, the publication emphasizes research integrity, high ethical standards, constructive peer review through double-blind review, exemplary production quality, and cutting-edge online functionality. Review the peer review process

RTED implements Article Processing Charges - APC, which is a fee, cost, or amount for processing that some journals require authors to pay for the publication of their articles in open access after the manuscript is accepted.

RTED does not accept pre-submission inquiries; if you are unsure whether your article meets the requirements for a particular submission type, please consult the author guidelines.

RTED submissions that do not comply with the journal's guidelines will be returned to the author without peer review reports or editor notes.

RTED reserves the right to refuse to consider or publish any submission that does not have a basis in established scientific knowledge or that conflicts with the core values of RTED.

Read the author guidelines for complete information on how to submit your article or essay, including format, images, and digital components such as copyright rights.

The submission or sending of the manuscript is only through our online digital portal.

Conditions:

- Only original and up-to-date works representing significant theoretical contributions will be accepted.

- Submission of contributions does not imply any commitment to publication by the journal.

- Each submitted article will be independently reviewed by two peer reviewers. The review process follows a double-blind method. The decision to publish, modify, or reject is based on the transparency of their reports/recommendations. The process begins when the author receives confirmation of manuscript reception, indicating whether the submission will “begin” the peer review process or was “rejected.” This decision depends on formal aspects, thematic relevance, and originality. View Peer Review Process

- RTED is published semiannually and implements Article Processing Charges (APC), which are fees charged for processing open-access articles upon acceptance. This APC applies to all academic collaborators, including administrative staff, teachers, students, and researchers. The fee varies depending on the number of authors, with a maximum of four (4) authors. See pricing

- Once the administrative fee related to the APC is paid and the process begins, the author has a maximum of 5 months to address suggestions from the first reviewer and up to 1 year for full completion of the process. If the author fails to meet the established deadlines or decides to withdraw the article after the process has begun, the journal reserves the right to reject the article, and no refund will be provided.

- Selected works for publication will not receive any financial or other form of compensation. Authors may request a signed publication certificate from the editor if needed.

- The author must confirm through the Ethics Declaration form whether they have any conflicts of interest. See policies

- Upon acceptance for publication, the author retains reproduction and distribution rights for their article in all countries worldwide in the format provided by our journal and any other magnetic, optical, or digital medium. View Copyright Policy

- The author must indicate the institution(s) that provided financial support for the research and/or preparation of the article and briefly describe the sponsor(s)' role in the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or the decision to submit the article for publication. If there was no involvement, please specify that as well.

Original articles

The Revista Tecnológica-Educativa Docentes 2.0 (RTED) adopts the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement as the ethical foundation and editorial best practices of this publication, supporting the combined efforts of authors, editors, and reviewers to produce responsible and high-quality research publications. This statement is based on ethical principles that, in general, follow the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Responsibility of the Authors

  1. Submitted texts must be the result of original and unpublished research. They must include the obtained data and an objective discussion of their results. Sufficient information should be provided to allow any specialist to replicate the research conducted and verify or refute the interpretations presented in the work.
  2. Authors must be aware of and refrain from engaging in scientific misconduct or violating publication ethics.
  3. Authors must present their results clearly, honestly, and without falsification or inappropriate manipulation of data.
  4. Authors must ensure that the data and results presented in the work are original and have not been copied, fabricated, distorted, or manipulated.
  5. Plagiarism in all forms, multiple or redundant publication, as well as data fabrication or manipulation, constitute serious ethical violations and are considered scientific fraud.
  6. Authors must provide proper authorship and acknowledgment. Authors should refrain from deliberately misrepresenting a scientist's relationship with the published work. All authors must have significantly contributed to the research.
  7. Authors must inform the editor if they have a direct or indirect conflict of interest with editors or members of the editorial or international scientific committee.
  8. No significant part of the article should have been previously published as an article or chapter or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  9. When an author discovers a significant error in their work, they are obligated to notify the journal as soon as possible to modify their article, withdraw it, retract it, or publish a correction or erratum.
  10. If the potential error is detected by any member of the Editorial Committee, the author must demonstrate that their work is correct.
  11. Authors are required to participate in a peer-review process for all submitted materials.

2. Responsibility of the Editors

  1. The Editorial Team will be impartial when managing works submitted for publication and must respect the intellectual independence of authors, who should be granted the right to respond in case of negative evaluation.
  2. The members of the Editorial Team are obligated to maintain confidentiality regarding the received texts and their content until they have been accepted for publication. Only then may their title and authorship be disclosed.
  3. Likewise, no member of the Editorial Board may use data, arguments, or interpretations contained in unpublished works for their research without the express written consent of the author(s).

2.1. Publication Decision

  1. All contributions will be initially evaluated by the Editorial Team. The Editorial Team is solely responsible for selecting, processing, and deciding which articles submitted to the journal meet the editorial objectives and, therefore, may be published. Each suitable document will be sent to two independent reviewers, experts in the field, to evaluate the specific qualities of the work. The editor is responsible for the final decision on whether the document is accepted or rejected.
  2. The decision to publish an article will always depend on its importance to researchers, professionals, and potential readers. Editors must make impartial decisions regardless of commercial considerations.
  3. Editors responsible for final decisions on manuscripts must recuse themselves from editorial decisions if they have conflicts of interest or relationships that pose potential issues regarding the articles under consideration. The responsibility for the final decision on publication will be assigned to an editor with no conflicts of interest.

2.2. Peer Review

  1. The Editorial Board will ensure that published research works have been evaluated by at least two subject-matter experts and that the review process was fair and impartial.
  2. Reviewed articles are treated confidentially by the editorial team, the international scientific committee members, and reviewers.
  3. The Editorial Board values and appreciates the contribution of those who collaborate in the evaluation of submitted works. It will exclude those who perform low-quality, incorrect, disrespectful, or untimely evaluations.

2.3. Identification and Prevention of Misconduct

  1. Under no circumstances will members of the editorial committee or the scientific committee encourage misconduct of any kind or knowingly allow such misconduct to occur.
  2. Special care will be taken to distinguish cases of honest human error from deliberate fraud.
  3. The Editorial Board will consider retracting a publication in cases of misconduct, issuing a note in the case of inconclusive evidence of misconduct, or requesting the correction of false segments.

- Authors must confirm through the Ethics Declaration form if they have any type of conflict of interest. See policies

*This declaration is based on COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Elsevier recommendations.
