Abstract

ESPINOSA, Luciano. The reductionism of some contemporary interpretations of the body. EPISTEME [online]. 2016, vol.36, n.2, pp.99-123. ISSN 0798-4324.

The importance of the body is recognized today in all the aspects of life, but sometimes there is an extreme pendulous effect and the emancipation of the corporeity becomes in its contrary. The paper describes two kinds of reductionism that attack the integrity of the human condition: one of them animalizes the subject, according to the philosophies of desire, the neurosciences and the deep ecology, and the other considers that the imperfections of the body must be surpassed by a technological creation of a new human nature.

Keywords : body; consciousness; animality.
