Abstract

VEGA, María Eugenia  and  ESPINOZA AGUAIDA, Juan Pedro. A Reading of Revolution in Military Affairs. Revista de Ciencias Sociales [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.1, pp.106-116. ISSN 1315-9518.

From a postmodern perspective, the transformation of concepts about space, time and mass in the theatres, means and mobile elements of war are studied as a consequence of the communications revolution. When analyzing the so-called Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) from this perspective, it seems that new technologies have stimulated a qualitative leap in ways of waging war and also in ways of understanding its utility and that of the armed forces. The case of the United States makes it possible to better observe this and outstanding characteristics of the RMA.

Keywords : Armed forces; revolution in military affairs; postmodern war.
