The general objective of the research was to analyze communal justice in rural Andean contexts: The case of Alpamayo in Ancash, Peru. The method was based on the qualitative approach, managing the collection and analysis of a documentary-bibliographic typology, which allowed us to organize an analysis of the object of study with the intention of discovering the purpose presented by the researchers. In addition, the integrative legal research method was used, which was based on holistic thinking, which seeks to understand the object of study. In the field phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten members of the Alpamayo community. It is concluded that communal justice in Alpamayo, based on customary law, represents a valid form of legal pluralism in Peru. The cooperation between the peasant community, the peasant patrol and the justice of the peace establishes an organized and effective system.
