NIVIN-VARGAS, Laura Rosa; VERA-GUTIERREZ, Fany Soledad; SEGURA-CORDOVA, María del Carmen  y  JULCA-GUERRERO, Félix Claudio. Perception of female faculty leadership at an Andean university in Peru. Gestio et Productio [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.13, pp.347-373.  Epub 25-Dic-2025. ISSN 2739-0039.  https://doi.org/10.35381/gep.v7i13.388.

The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of women teachers' participation in university governance. The research was descriptive and cross-sectional, based on in-depth interviews and documentary review. The results revealed the persistence of a significant gender gap in university governance. Despite having the academic training and the willingness to assume management responsibilities, female professors have faced structural obstacles such as the low proportion of women with doctoral degrees, the limited supply of positions for promotion to the rank of senior lecturer, institutionalized sexist practices and the overload derived from the double home-university workday. It was concluded, therefore, that these conditions have restricted their access to decision-making spaces, noting a lower representation of women in faculty management and governance bodies compared to their male peers.
