CAMPOS-MARINOZ, Emanuel Harley et al. Video as a tool for developing english oral expression and comprehension in higher education in Trujillo 2023. e-Rev. Multidiscip. Saber [online]. 2025, vol.3, e-RMS01042025. Epub 25-Jun-2025. ISSN 2960-2467. https://doi.org/10.61286/e-rms.v3i.182.
This study investigated the connection between integrating videos as a pedagogical resource and developing English oral expression and comprehension at a public higher education institution in Trujillo during 2023. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, which aims to "ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all," this research highlights video's potential to enrich linguistic skills and facilitate access to innovative teaching methodologies. The approach was quantitative and non- experimental, involving a sample of 150 students. The "use of video as a methodological tool" was assessed using a Likert-type questionnaire, demonstrating high reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.956). For "English oral expression and comprehension," an observation guide was utilized, also showing strong consistency (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.938). Data analysis was performed with SPSS v.26, employing Spearman's correlation. Results revealed a positive and significant association (ρ=0.754;p<0.01), indicating video's considerable influence on oral skills. The correlation was strongest when videos were used as a general tool (ρ=0.754), in a mediating role (ρ=0.705), or as a complementary aid (ρ=0.689). However, their use for entertainment showed a weaker relationship (ρ=0.301). The statistical significance (p<0.05) validates these findings, underscoring the need for strategic video implementation in English language teaching.
