In this review of the literature, it was performed a description of the clinical diagnostic methods used to detect the initial caries lesion in such a way that dentists use those methods taking into consideration the nature of the initial lesion, in the words, the prescence of an almost intact superficial zone over a subsuperficial zone that has suffered an important desmineralization, where the traditional methods may become a reversible lesion in a cavity.
