Direct pulp capping is considered a controversial procedure, due to lack of information concerning use of this technique and it has been developed solely on the basis of empirical reasoning and consequently of this there is mistrust by the professional, toward these conservative procedure, in spite of the advances in the direct capping have been made. Many materials have been used for direct pulp capping but hidrxide calciun has been accept as the best material to be due to its proven capacity to obtain high porcentages of succes. Presently, the possibility of using adhesive bonding as pulp capping is being evaluated. It has been used successfully in the healing induction, on the other hand there have been non-favorable results using the total etch technique followed by capping with dentin bonding agentsas a procedure for direct pulp capping.
