Abstract

The situation of poverty that lives our country at the moment also affects the conditions of the population's buccal health, it is for it that, during the internship that was carried out in the Hospital Eudoro González of the Parish of Carayaca, State Vargas, worried by the buccal conditions presented by the inhabitants of the area, and in view of the ignorance on the part of the patients of the presence of buccal lesions, was carried out an epidemiological study of lesions present in the population, during the period September 1.998-August 1.999. The same one was carried out with the purpose of waking up in the dentist groupings and in the different services of public attention the necessities to diagnose and to give treatment to the different buccal pathologies, creating conscience in the population about the importance of to detect and to treat diverse buccal clinical entities on time. Presently work 52 cases are reported of patient with buccal lesions that grouped according to the gender, age, lesion type and localization of the same ones, taking in consideration the habits. In this study we had as result that the gender most affected was the female one, and the patients aged 21 to 40 presented a higher number of pathology. Respect the categories studied, leukoplakia was in the first place in the male gender and subprotesic stomatitis In the female one, having observed in our study, that the most affected area of the mouth cavity were the lips, and the entity with major diagnosis was the traumatic ulcera.
