Abstract

Due to the frequency in which patients go to the services of surgery maxilofacial with the application of therapeutic inadequate, antimicrobials administration for via oral and intramuscular using excessive dose, the absence of studies of laboratories and necessary complementary exams in presence of septic inflammatory processes, it has been decided to carry out this study to bring up to date of dentist and students. A total of 141 patients were studied, the masculine sex was the predominant one (56.37). The group of ages of more incidence went from 2 to 11 years. The biggest percent in the affected patients were healthy (81.87). it was obtained through the results of the antibiogram that there was not bacterial growth in the 42.28 of the studied patients, in 26.84% it was present the streptococus ß hemolitic. The penicillin was the antimicrobial that was administered with more frequency (39.59%), followed by the penicillin combined with cotrimoxazol (24.83%), penicillin combined with gentamicine(15.43%), gentamicine (10.06%), cefazolin (5.36%) and amikacine (4.09). The shortest time among the administration of the antimicrobial for endovenosus via and the dental extraction would corresponded in the first 24 hours (81.87%). A total of 104 patients had a demurrage of 2.5 days on average.
