ABSTRACT Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a syndrome characterized by sleep-related collapse of the upper airway while the diaphragm keeps on motion. The consequences are sleepness, morning headaches, loud snoring and interrupted night sleep. Patients suffering OSA are hypertense in the majority of cases and can suffer from dangerous cardiac arritmias. To diagnose OSA a polysomnographic recording is required. The treatment goal for OSA is to widen the airway for the air current to flow. In this article we describe a mandibular advancement device to treat OSA.
