Abstract
Análisis morfoestructural con microscopia óptica y electrónica de transmisión del esmalte dentario humano en superficies oclusales. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.1, pp.4-8. ISSN 0001-6365.
For systematic analysis between clinic and histological aspect of dental caries progressive state, it is indispensable to know and interpret the structural physical, chemical and biological characteristics of healthy enamel tissue. The aim of this work was to describe enamel histologic characteristics with light and transmition electron microscopy (TEM), on human premolars and molars enamel extracted because of orthodontic or surgical reasons, taking as an inclusion criterion, specimens with no restorations nor macroscopic evidence of caries. Light microscopic structural analysis in all specimens revealed enamel lamellae located on the base of occlusal fissure or at cuspid wall that limit the occlusal pit. Structural analysis with TEM, at different magnification revealed: organic content of intercuspid fissures on enamel tissue interface. By the observed in this study, it would be interesting to demonstrate enamel lamellae implicance as a structure associated to caries, mainly to named hidden caries on occlusal surfaces.
