Resumen
SALAZAR, Esmeralda; PERRONE, Marianella; ESCALONA, Laura y PLAZA, Yoliann. Eficacia analgésica del Nimesulide en el dolor periodontal postoperatorio. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.1, pp.21-25. ISSN 0001-6365.
The purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy of medicating with nimesulide immediately presurgically to medicating immediately postsurgically on postoperative pain associated with periodontal surgery. Forty five patients who were to undergo periodontal surgery were randomly divided into 3 groups: the pretreatment group received 100mg nimesulide immediately presurgically and placebo immediately after the surgery; the post-treatment group received placebo before surgery and 100mg nimesulide postsurgically; the placebo group received placebo at both time periods. The statistical results showed that dosing with nimesulide either immediately before or immediately after periodontal surgery significantly delays onset of pain as compared to placebo, with dosing before surgery demonstrating a significantly greater delay of onset of pain as compared to dosing postsurgically. We concluded that nimesulide appears to be a worthwhile alternative to other available NSAIDs in the treatment of postoperative periodontal pain.
