Resumen
PARDI, Germán. "Determinantes de Patogenicidad de Candida Albicans": (Revisión Bibliográfica). Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.2, pp.185-192. ISSN 0001-6365.
Candida albicans is the most important etiological agent implicated in oral candidiosis. This species is a dimorphic fungi that it can be seen like yeasts (saprofitic form) or hypha (parasitic form). Several metabolic products and some cell wall components of C. albicans have been related with its pathogenicity. The purpose of this article is to describe the mecanisms of pathogenicity, mainly those factors involucrated in the adherence and in the inhibition of the adherence of this microorganism to buccal ptithelial cells and to denture surfaces.
Palabras clave : Candida albicans; pathogenicity; adherence; virulence.
