CAMEJO SUAREZ, María Valentina. Adhesivos para Amalgama: Revisión de la literatura. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.2, pp.201-207. ISSN 0001-6365.

The amalgam restoration is very important in operative dentistry, and one of the most longevity materials that has been used . Researchers have sought to find a cavity sealer that could provide improved performance over varnish and so they begin to use adhesive system with two purposes : to increase the retention of a restoration and to reduce the marginal gap at the tooth-to-restoration interface. Actually the benefits of using them in conjunction with amalgam restorations is controversial. However some of the benefits proposed are: the reduction of microleakage, postoperative sensitivity, and recurrent caries , provide better retention of the materials, to reinforce the remaining tooth structure and to preparation cavity most conservative. But most of the investigators coincided that will be necessary to do clinical studies for a long period of time in order to know the real effectiveness.
