The removal from the mouth of an viscoelastic material, develops stresses in the bulk of the impression material, the adhesive which adheres it to the tray, and the tray. If the adhesive is not able to withstand the stresses, permanent deformation will occur and the model obtained from it, will not be accurate. The purpose of this paper was to review the literature in regards to the variables mentioned above.
