Abstract Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a high-mortality condition caused by Human Immunodeficiency Virus, characterized by an acquired defect in cellular immunity, apparently irreversible, that predisposes the host to many severe opportunistic infections and rare tumors. Its estimated that Human Immunodeficiency Virus infects 1000 children every day in the world, 90% of these infection had been acquired during pregnancy, at birth or during breast feeding. The perinatal infection should be considered a familial disease multidisciplinary approach and social work assistance attention. A 3 year old HIV infected boy is reported with severe dental problems including rampant caries. The patient was treated under general anesthesia and was attended by a multidisciplinary team conformed by physicians, dentist and faculty support staff. To date this boy is being attended as regular out patient, in our Specialist Clinic for prevention and control of new dental problems.
