Abstract

The lipoma is a benign neoplasia of adipose cells, extremely rare in the oral cavity. The typical clinical presentation is a painless tumor of yellow color. It has been described in the mucosa of the cheeks, the tongue, floor of the mouth, the vestibule, lips, palate and gum. It appear with more frequency among the 30 and 40 years of age and the men are seen more affected that the women in relation 2.5: 1. Histologically the adipose tumor is identical to the normal fat cells and they present a clear vacuoled rounded cytoplasm, with an eccentric nucleus. The surgical elimination is the processing of election. The recurrences are rare.
