To develop an effective treatment plan, it is necessary to establish a diagnosis that will depend on the interpretation of the data gathered in the patient's anamnesis, of the clinical exam and of the obtained results through the diagnostic methods (qualitative or quantitative) used by the dentist. Up to now, an unique product doesn't exist to combat the halitosis. The effectiveness to short and long term of most of the products for the treatment of the halitosis has not settled down clearly. The recent advances in the understanding of the etiology of the halitosis have allowed the development of new techniques for their evaluation and handling.
