ESPINOZA, Norelkys y RINCON, Ángel Gabriel. Instructions for the production and presentation of monograph texts. : The vision of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Los Andes.. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2006, vol.44, n.3, pp.406-412. ISSN 0001-6365.
An investigation report, of any type, aims to communicate to the scientific community the results of a given research. This reflects the importance of an appropriate elaboration, in order to guarantee the diffusion of that knowledge. Is in this sense and taking into account that the monograph is the report of the documentary investigation, this study is an attempt for unifying criteria for the elaboration and presentation of monographic papers in the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Los Andes (FOULA). The parts constituting a monographic paper as well as the elements that integrate it are presented. Also some instructions to help the researcher in the process of its elaboration and presentations are given. It is considered that in the process of writing of the monograph, the researcher must keep the rhetorical structure of the text, and follow an instruction set related to the language and the textual typologies, for that reason it is suggested to follow this order: cover, summary, general index, index of tables and figures, introduction, body, conclusions, list of references, and appendices. On the other hand, it is suggested to be careful on specific aspects, such as the type of bound, paper, letter, spaces, margins, numeration of the pages, tables and figures. With the use of these guidelines for the elaboration of monograph, it has been possible to unify the criteria on this issue in the FOULA. These norms has been approved by the Thesis Board and the Council of the Faculty of Dentistry. This normative rules the presentation of monographs in this Faculty, being aware that monographs must follow a specific rhetorical structure: introduction, development and conclusion. The monograph must also present in a clear and simple way the results of the documentary research.
