MILLAN ISEA, Ronald E.; SALINAS MILLAN, Yuni J.; MAESTRE, Liz P y PAZ DE GUDINO, Mercedes. Crown elongation and bone remodeling as periodontal aesthetic treatment. A case report. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2007, vol.45, n.1, pp.93-95. ISSN 0001-6365.
The purpose of this report is to describe the crown enlargement and bone remodeling as a periodontal esthetic treatment, supported on a literature review, a descriptive and documental research was done. Most of the dental procedures performed, have an direct or an indirect effect on the dent facials esthetic values. The crown enlargement procedures and alveolar ridges remodeling are treatments performed to improve the gummy smiles, the margin gingival level and harmonization of the healthy dental tissue exposed. The effects of these periodontal treatments had aported changes into the treatment plans and in the sequence and integration of the procedures into the global therapy. A clinic case is been reported, a 24 years old with a big amount of gum tissue when she smiles. Conclusion: The dent facial structures analysis and how they affect the esthetics must be an important part of an general exam. The achievement of excellent esthetics results on a therapy is not a matter of luck, must be into the treatment plan before starting this one.
