The purpose of this research was to analyze, through a documental review, the main aspects related to suture in the area of the oral surgery. At a beginning the objectives that it pursues were studied as well as the essential principles and conditions that rule a correct suture technique, then the basic instruments were described and the specific types of needles and surgical threads were specified, in this sense attention was focused on the new materials that are currently used for the efficient closing of the wounds. Then, each one of the suture techniques most used to perform surgical sewing of the different wounds that can be created by oral surgeon when working on the buccal tissues. Finally, postoperative recommendations to assure the healing of the wound without complications, as well as the rules to take into account when moving away the suture thread were given.
